most of it are rubbish.... changing the appliance itself for a more efficient one makes sense but these products? im skeptical....

same goes with those fuel saving devices. Heck if it was so great, automotive companies would pile them up and advertise that their car saves even more fuel. Its a win win for them cause buyers go 'wow that car saves so much fuel' and manufacturers can jack prices up abit(at least to cover their costs)

If I look at this thing, I think the cost to make one is most likely no more than RM20.

Save electricity or not depends on the utilities in your house. This is nothing new. It contains a capacitor to correct the voltage and current phase offset by appliances that have inductive load, which is mainly motor and transformer (to the least effect).

Factories normally have this capacitor banks in their supply room. It is required by TNB to avoid unproductive power due to phase shift. The capacitor will correct the power factor to 0.9. This is what I know in general.

+1, IMO to save electricity you have to place it in the mainboard, not plug something to a socket

It purpose is to correct the power factor. They are using the flurosent light or motor as the load example. Which is bad in power factor.

That is why you see the Amp lower after switch ON.

But your home is not charge according to power factor. TNB charge you in Kwh.

That's why this thing have no effect to your bill.

Don't waste your money in this device. And those have it, better throw it to rubbish bin.

For large power users like factories, pF is important because if we do not correct the pF using capacitor bank, measured in kVArh, TNB will charge us penalty.

For average home users, the savings is negligible as TNB do not charge you according to kVArh, but in kWh (TNB adsorb the pF 'losses')

Like what ozak says is true, no difference to your electricity bill. nod.gif

if it works, TnB will require/encourage all residential area to install it. (i mean the product that TS query)

to encourage use less of electricity is one of their KPI.

If you want to save electricity, consider using led bulbs and a/c or fridge with inverter and high efficiency compressors.. might able to save you some money.
