Essentially, the difference non edge version of s7 are smaller screen and battery, thats it?

Yes, plus the edge UX. Some may find it gimmicky but personally I find it's useful especially with the apps & task edge panel.

same. ringke fusion ok but spigen rugged armour not so much. the corner tend to lift up a bit.
installed X one ultimate on my friend unit yesterday, also similar case.  anyway, from last night outcome, X One ultimate have better fingerprint resistance. the drag feeling more or less the same.

I had helped my friend to install his Ultimate SP last night. Infact there is a full page instruction on how to do it which I did not follow 100%
The install took me under 10 mins
This is what I did
Clean the display first with some alcohol tape cleaner followed by glass cleaner
I prepare a small bowl of water with 2 drops of lemon dish washer liquid
I spread a thin film of the water on the display n just put the SP on top. I feel not necessary to soak phone or SP
Adjustment of the film just needed a minute+ n I started from bottom to align n slowly squeeze out the film of water using a phone card on top of a piece of microfibre cloth
End result some minor bubble at bottom edge
I just tell my friend let it be so
He charged
back the phone 2 hours later n managed to squeezed out those minor bubbles with his phone card
Conclusion - is not that a difficult task as described by some. It could be tiring following 100% the supplied instructions
I only did the front display only

I see.. well to me, the edge is just a design, wont hamper my day to day use. How much is the rrp difference?

Too bad samsung did not bring the non edge in. I too might go for the non edge if the price difference justifies

I agree. I just soaked the SP without soaking the phone too.
Placed the SP, squeezed out the remaining bubbles.
Less than 10 mins siap. rclxms.gif

my old LG can customize right out of the box, heck it can even do per-contact-and-app basis LED lights (it works for every app :/)
lightflow is quite complicated to do this
