Better to have a general idea of what you might be photographing often also... At least to start off with..

Interested also to know what got you eyeing on the m6 mark ii?
*
Probably urban/landscape

Initially i read many people recommended the m50 for beginner.

Then compared the video quality of m50 vs m6 mark ii and was quite impressed with the m6 mark ii (based on youtube videos i watch)

The price is also very attractive

But yeah they are both not full frame and i did not consider this before

Getting the RP is the better option as i can still use back all existing lenses in case i want to upgrade to eos R i guess.

Yes that's correct. If for long term, go for RP.
Landscape, probably you need UWA lens.. cheapest one is 1740 f4L, maybe you can find used ones around RM1500 to 1800

That's a lot of good info. So you plan to do a bit of video as well. No wonder a lot of videos you watched pointed to m50 and m6 ii. If videography is something you plan to do as well, then gotta factor that in as well..

Landscape and urban I assume would be like buildings/architectural stuff right? Then getting a wide angle lens might suit you better. Good thing is, most landscape photography don't require super fast lenses. So you can maybe get away with cheaper lenses like the 24-105mm STM.... But that lens is also round RM1.6k+ unless you get it with the RP

You're absolutely right when you said you can still use EF lenses with RP. In fact maybe that's something you will definitely do initially since the RF lineup is quite pricey now.... Good luck in your new purchase!

+getting a 50mm as your first and only lens might be quite limiting for urban landscapes or general landscapes.

Not to say you can't cause there is great landscape photography with telephoto lenses, but the 50mm focal length doesn't scream landscape to begin with...

Shot with RF85 f2.0. This lens is amazingly sharp.

Nice! thumbsup.gif

Do you found the lens sticking out from the barrel an issue with this lens? My friend had to placing the screw in filter to avoid dust/sand contact and scratching on the glass as he experienced using the rf 35mm 1.8.

I find it a hassle in a way that I need to take extra precautions to make sure dust and moist doesnt go in. Yes, already have a UV filter on it. My RF35 also have UV filter since day 1.
But i am waiting for the lens hood ET77 (3rd party) to come out, because the lens hood can cover the extending barrel.

Another close up demo.

Nice! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif Which is why I don't get why people like to complain about 20MP being insufficient. Especially when most if not all pictures end up on social media and compressed to hell anyway doh.gif

True. Most people share via whatsapp/facebook/insta and rarely view it on larger screens. Which is ok cause that's just the way it is now.

Especially people like me who take photos of family/events and share via WhatsApp for the most part.

If you're doing events, or casual family photos, you do not want to go for 45mp, later your hard drive space fill up twice as fast, post processing takes twice as long. 20-26mp is the sweet spot.

20mp is not an issue to me too.
But the complain is other competitors able to provide 24mp model.
And Canon is selling R6 more expensive than the rest. (Price between mid to high end model)

Yea, I guess the issue is that, they didnt want to spend more on R&D for newer sensor, in which they have already spent alot when developing the 1dxiii sensor. Since that camera not selling well, and olympic called off, might as well use it on R6. Maybe that's the reasoning behind la..

Yeah and not to mention WhatsApp's compression is the absolute worst. Everything becomes a blurry mess doh.gif Unless you send as attachment which is the full actual file itself.

Yup, no intention of going 45MP or whatever. End of the day it doesn't matter to my clients.

Which I find baseless, like can you (not you per se, I mean those complainers) even tell the difference between 20mp and 24mp in a blind test?

About the pricing, I look at it as a 1DX Mark III at 40% the cost. The few things the 1DX III does better is build quality, battery life and the 5.5k RAW video. It's a damn steal laugh.gif

Actually true, you CANNOT notice any difference from 20-24 mp. In fact, 20mp to 26mp also could hardly tell a difference. I've shot with a 6d mark ii last year, for about 7-8 months before upgrading to EOS R. I could barely tell the difference in terms of MP when comparing with the 5Diii. However for EOS R, 30mp, yes. Can tell the difference as my computer starts to slow down noticeably when retouching and exporting.

Absolutely true. In fact, most people are so used to camera phone quality (which is nothing wrong, but if you get a proper photo from a camera... well...) so when you suddenly give them a photo with a different perspective or a more well thought out photo...they'll already be very impressed.... I think if you're taking outdoor photos with plenty of light, camera phones are damn nice now. But if for like low light indoor events, with a proper flash system and fast enough lens, only a dedicated ILC system can get you certain types of photos.

When I edit my 16mp photos vs 24mp photos, I also can tell the difference in loading and buffering times. But as far as the end quality photo... especially sent via whatsapp or telegram, I think only photographers will know and want to pixel peep. Even if I were to guess, i might be able to guess the kind of lens used (like telephoto or wide angle) based on the FOV and DOF.... but can never guess what MP or kind of camera.

My 9 years compact flash card behaving weirdly recently, sometimes very lag when writing or reading, sometimes giving me some errors when plugged into pc.
Decided to write an email to Lexar to claim for the Life time warranty.
So they are nice enough to offer $28 in return, I need to destroy the card with video and photo evidence.
Bought this card back in 2011 at BnH New York for $150. So much memories, especially shooting sports with this card.
