yeah i know, but at the end of the day people will still find things to complain. gh4 is a much video camera than a 5dIII and even 5d IV right? but still not every videographer using it, i wonder why?

People with complain because they did spend a good amount on a system.  And they want that system to do well mainly because we are somewhat trapped.  And Canon system has been lacking behind pretty much everyone.  Sensor performance getting beat in every dimension by every other brand.  Think only Canon and Pentax don't have 4k on their APSC/cropped sensor range cameras.  Exclude Pentax and they are the last ones to do 4K on the cropped sensors!

Fujifilm now has xt2
m43s has plenty of 4k cameras
Sony has a6300
The killed off system Samsung had NX1
Even Nikon has D500

Doesn't that make us feel great to be so invested in the Canon system!  Well money spent!  To be the last!

Yeah, we are still in a 1080p era so no hurry or must for 4K.  But who likes being last?  If it wasn't for metabones I might have completely lost confidence and stopped buying more EF mount lenses.  Basically, I just want to be confident in the system I am investing in.

And so yeah Canon 5d4 has 4k and the initial reviews about its video are not great.  Just have to wait and see more people get their hands on it and hear how they feel about it overall.  It might be a good workhorse like the Canon 7d2,  criticised to death by so many for having no 4k (I'll admit I was one of them),  but to the users its a very good camera.
*
that's what that matters imo, but then 7D II is basically a sports/ wildlife camera so 4k or not it doesn't matter so much.

One good thing about the 5D IV is that Canon seems to have improved the DR by quite a big margin based on what I saw on DPR, almost as good as A7R II although still losing to D810. That alone would still keep a lot of photographers staying in the Canon system. As for the video crowds, well Im not a video guy so I cant really suggest anything.

It is still a very fine photographer camera but people seems to ignore that just to bash on the lack of video capability, which I feel its unfair for the camera.

Anyone excited about the M5? Other than it being a little too expensive.

Wan to use Efs or ef lens need to buy adapter somemore

Might as well bring the camera u ady have
*
they never bundle the adapter anymore? when i bought my m1 few years ago it came with the adapter.

but all i can say is Canon is definitely getting there, the m5 isnt so far back compared to a6000 and newer m4/3 cameras. good to see that canon is finally being serious about producing a proper mirrorless camera.

they need to make a few more EFM primes and thats it, you already have a good UWA, good superzoom, good telephoto and a walkaround prime.

One thing about having high capacity memory cards are that you are going to regret when you sit down and edit, the number of pictures are crazy sweat.gif

I ran 16gb and 32gb on my EOS M / D7000 and never had the problem of running out memory, I don't shoot any video but RAW for everything.

I mostly do food photography.
Right now sigma realeased a affordable portrait lens

Cause the focal length doesn't differ much

Just one mean for macro and another mean for portrait.

I feel sigma 85 mm has certain advantages is big aperture and good image quality

The only downside is MFD one 85cm and one is 30cm for 100mm. But I checked the price... 85 mm is 2x 100mm price.....

I think in keeping my 100mm

CF cards are still really expensive.
Too bad 5D4 can really only accept CF cards.
It doesn't support higher speeds on SD cards.

Had to purchase an additional 128GB 160MB/s extreme pro CF card. Even the SanDisk extreme 120MB/s card is too slow.  More expensive than a good SSD of that size.
*
i imagine only 4k video will chew through that much of memory? luckily im a stills-guy so can still survive with 8gb cards tongue.gif

Depends on what you shoot too. smile.gif If talk about my production work for goldfries or my interior photography projects, 32GB can last me ages.

When it comes to wedding day shoot, 32GB is just nice but certainly not 16GB.
*
i used to shoot a lot of pictures, but at the end i realized i throw half of them away and it will be really time consuming to go through so many pictures.

probably thats the reason i like shooting products/ landscapes more than events. enjoy working on a few images for a longer period of time instead biggrin.gif

I believe this shouldn't be an issue with 4K on Panasonic and Sony systems.

It's just that canon uses a format that doesn't compress the files much.

It's basically high quality 8.3 megapixel jpg images at a rate of 30 frames per second.
*
is the quality when PP better than the other compressed bitrates? (Im new to video haha)

guys..wanna ask.is there any good macro lens?  good i means, good performance:price ratio.. like nifty fifty equivalent of macro
*
the 100mm f2.8 non L macro is quite good, and if you want to get even more affordable option, try to look for tamraon sp90 f2.8 macro. a superb lens albeit the old and dated focusing mechanism. for a used unit it should be something around rm700-900.

Will it be too long for apsc? How much is it for new and used?
*
its quite an awesome lens actually.

being a 150mm f2.8 prime, you can use it for sports/ concerts. bokeh is quite good also, very nice for portrait. on apsc it would be around 225mm, not something you would normally use for anything indoor.

and its a true macro lens tongue.gif

the one i had was the older version without OS, should costs around rm2.5k new. as for used, im planning to let go around rm1.2k, its a Nikon mount though.

sent my 18-135mm to YL last time to remove fungus. not cheap though, costed me rm100-150.

why not worth? so just let the lens die?  hmm.gif

a lens wont really "die" i guess. based on my previous experience, if fungus started to grow (not too serious), you can just keep the lens in a dry place and the fungus wont become any worse.

On the side note : anyone knows where to go for cleaning fungus? so far i only know YL camera can do it, but its a little too far for me.

With 18-55 is ok, but 18-135 will be a bit heavy.
Personally i prefer carry with 50mm STM & 24mm pancake STM. (Very light)
You should considered both it is cheaper than 18-135 & picture quality is better.
Price of both prime lens combined is still cheaper than 18-135 itself.
Or you can go for 750d and invest more on lens.
*
but then you lose a lot of range between 18-23mm, 25-49mm, 51-135mm. not to mention there will no image stabilizer. swapping lenses will be quite troublesome when you are travelling as well.

i would suggest TS to go and have a test at the shop to find out which lens feels the best.
