or US, but according to all the sifus here those seats are as rare as a dodo bird, so I might have to end up going for J class instead. But seems those are quite risky from last min confirmation too  sweat.gif

Unfortunately, I can't get it work. sad.gif
I tried VPN, though IP already in SG but opened any map still shows my current KL location. laugh.gif
I did and still can't work though it detects my SG pin location. laugh.gif

Never mind la, not my rezeki. tongue.gif

Tried it works. Didn't need to use VPN.
1. Go to Car to book a ride.
2. Scroll map to Singapore. Book a ride from say, Orchard to Changi.
2. Click the middle "Promo" button.
4. Click Browse All Rewards. Bottom Browse All Rewards again.
5. Click Travel.
6. At the bottom there's the KF redemption for 700 points.

But is it worth it?
If you take 1 KF mile = RM0.04, 160 miles = RM6.40
If you take 1 GrabPoint = RM0.009, 700 GrabPoints = RM6.30

About the same thing, and even if it's more, 160 miles is quite a relatively insignificant amount accruing to your FFP

They selling 10000 grab point at 10 dollar
*
Hmm.. RM30 for 2,285 KF Miles.
1 Mile = RM0.013

That's quite good. But anyway read above that it's sold out already.

Yes, GP is my first choice for all e-Wallet, follow by Boost.
Too bad, more and more merchants are accepting Boost but still very limited for GP.
*
And yeah, I always try to pay using e-wallets. Firstly, that's tantamount to paying using Amex. Secondly, the rewards are quite good. I agree Boost & GrabPay my favourites also.
Boost there's missions and small amount of shake rewards.
GrabPay, if you're Platinum member (20x points at the moment), every time you pay using GrabPay it's as good as getting 20% cashback (e.g. paid RM50 restaurant bill, get about RM10 worth of points)

I still got 13k from the normal M2C card TP.
It's worth to offset RM25 SST or I should redeem 1.5k KF  ?
*
Even if you take a nominal rate of 4cents/mile, 1500 Miles = RM60

This assume you redeem first and business class?

This is how much other bloggers value miles
https://www.singsaver.com.sg/blog/how-do-yo...lue-an-air-mile (in SGD)
https://onemileatatime.com/value-miles-points/ (in USD)

My own experience, on Enrich, I seem to get RM 3.6cents/mile on Economy, and 5cents/mile on Business. KF/AM gets you better value.

After spending some time reading info about this mbb premier card and MUVI, May I know majority here hold which card?

I’m still undecided which card to apply for.

AMEX can’t top up bigpay, but comes with 5X tp.
MUVI can top Up bigpay, and we pray MU wins to get the 5X tp. icon_question.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
That's why it's called Maybank 2 Premier. You get TWO cards. You get the best of both worlds.
1. Amex = 5x TP, use at whichever merchants allows Amex. Plus e-wallets such as Boost & GrabPay (which I love and try to use as much as possible.. not only you get 5x TP at merchants which doesn't accept Amex, you get lots of rewards and in app cashback).
2. MUVI = 2x / 5x TP, use wherever else that doesn't accept Amex. Try use as much on match days when MU is playing in the Premier League (and hopefully wins), and top up to Big Pay when MU wins.

3. Pair with BigPay. Once you've topped up using MUVI, pay for things like utilities, government bodies, insurance / other non-Amex spending using BigPay (to pseudo-earn 5x TP), or you could even withdraw cash from ATM.

_______________

Btw, as an aside, apart from using BigPay, does anyone know what is the best credit card for paying utilities & government bodies?

Hope Maybank launch a cc that give 5pt for utilities and government spending, I willing to fork out 5k annual fees, Maybank pls hear me:)
*
lol. you must be spending >100k / year on government / utility transactions, to be able to make even a 5k annual fee card worth it.
Got some rumours Boost gonna be able to pay TNB soon, that'll be good.

For now, MBB cards give 0x TP govt spending, and 1x TP utility spending.
So is there any better card in the meantime for govt/utility transactions?

That’s great news for me. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

I always thought that need to choose between the 2, and wonder how you guys spend 160k per year doh.gif
*
Yes, just call to change cards, and if you top up 10k/month to BigPay, you already can reach 120k spending / year.

If you interested in airline review, look up the blog onemileatatime, his sharing is good.

Yea, earning airmiles from cc spending isn't that difficult. (Hint: M2P is your friend, besides that's why we're all in this thread biggrin.gif )

What requires a lot more insight, research and experience is how to make full use of those miles. There are good frequent flyer tips & tutorials like:
https://onemileatatime.com/, www.thepointsguy.com(US-centric),
www.pointhacks.com.au, https://www.flyertalk.com/ (AUS-centric)
and there's some Sg-centric sites as well
(Btw, the above sites are good for general learning, and also has articles on redeeming KF, EM, AM, etc.)

What I wish for is sites like the above but Malaysian-centric. I guess the closest is GenXYZ, but many of his articles are password protected (or you need to complete missions / be his die hard disciple for access), and nowadays he shares more about his collection of alcohol & watches, his disciples' business class redemptions, and philosophies on life, etc.. haha..
Anyone wanna volunteer to start such a blog? tongue.gif

EDIT: Took too long to reply, previous post said the same thing rclxub.gif

Actually nth much can be share as my-centric coz our credit card choice are pretty limited, basically m2cp is the one, and our national carrier is half dead, so the Sg one is pretty much suit us the most.
*
Yea kinda true also. The Sg-centric ones are good coz they have a lot of options & tricks being able to use Sg as a base. Guess there's not much tricks relying on MAS and using KLIA as a base. It's just straightforward redemptions on EM.

Recently got a lot of speculation of govt wanting to shutdown / sell / bailour MAS, which is a pity. MAS is a decent airline, just that it's been horribly mismanaged over the years and due to previous management doing stupid things like awarding 25 year catering contracts

All AU, UK, US universities are aiming to earn international student fees - especially from China! I have friends working in this universities. They shared their strategies on how to reach this group of customers
*
When international students are paying 5-6 times more than local students, it's no surprise that universities rather close an eye and are more lenient on results as long as you continue paying the fees. Private education is huge business nowadays.
Recently also there was an admissions scandal in the US, where some well to do parents "donated" millions to universities in order for their kids to study there.

QUOTE(skty @ Jun 6 2019, 04:58 PM)
EXACTLY.

All those websites I have roughly gone through during my one month study of airmiles (do note that one month ago I don't know a single thing about airmiles), I have learned a lot from those websites BUT you CANNOT follow blindly because most of those websites teach us mostly on Europe / America airlines, how to fly from America with the lowest YQ, how to book using their own FFP, blah blah blah. Although I have learned about their way of analyzing things and some important things to take note in airmiles game, I need to spend way more time to understand it rather than a Malaysian website that I can follow BLINDLY.

Well, I don't agree with his method of imposing password in GenXYZ articles and calling his readers as disciples, etc but I cannot deny that his articles are sometimes quite informative. Whether he bullshit on his wealth, lifestyle or whatever, this is NONE OF MY BUSINESS. As long there is something beneficial to me to learn from, I will go.
*
Don't doubt he's making up anything. It's just his mannerism of always referring to people as his die hard disciples, who always calls him sifu, and the way he talks comes off as boastful. But no doubt it's informative and its a free country anyone can do what they like.

QUOTE(digidigi @ Jun 6 2019, 11:31 PM)
Agree.
Regarding experience , I would say if I want to spend money I will spend on experience but not material, I willing to spend over thousand per night on good hotel etc over buying a branded watch etc, but everyone have own preference la
*
I totally agree with you spend on experiences & memories, not material things. However, 2 things people spend money on which I wouldn't is spending on expensive hotel & expensive food. I'd rather use that money to have a much more enjoyable holiday / see mroe things / do more activities. To me, hotel as long as clean and nice it's just a bed at the end of the day, and food I can't justify spending few hundred / even thousands for fine dining / Michelin star,. I know many would disagree coz they enjoy the experience of good food. Some people light up at the opportunity to dine at a Michelin star restaurant that has a 1 year waiting list. Expensive cars also I don't see the point as it's a depreciating asset. That's why it's different strokes for different folks, and to each their own. haha.

p.s. You might balk at the thought of spending tens of thousands on branded watches / handbags, but actually if u check historical trends, investing in the right brand outperforms the stock market / gold prices.

I used to share the same sentiments on accommodation but that has changed. Hotels are part of what you call experiences and memories now for me.  blush.gif

Hotels with experiences like the Ceylon trail digi shared, or staying in a Minshuku in Shirakawago, or an ice igloo in Finland while gazing at auroras, or Giraffe Manor in Africa, i wouldn't mind.. But not staying in a 5 star Hilton in the middle of the city. haha. Maybe as we move up in life and as I get older that will change. haha.

Just read this article:
https://themalaysianreserve.com/2018/07/18/...ange-fee-rates/

BNM wants to cut the interchange fee by more than half by 2021. If it comes to pass, you can be sure that our beloved M2P is gonna have a massive devaluation or reduction in benefits / points.

Btw, those asking for a credit card that gives good points for government transactions. Didn't know govt transactions has a 0% fee, that's why banks can't afford to give away points for govt spending.

QUOTE(digidigi @ Jun 7 2019, 05:41 PM)
U really want the ticket or just simply book? Cancellation incurs some fees. It is hard to tell if there is any chance by next year it will serve by new cabin, but it definitely on the plan, maybe you can keep it for awhile first?

One way to speculate is call SIA and tell them u wanna book 7 seat in suite cabin and see if there is any, But most likely the seat will be there as a for now
*
QUOTE(charlesj @ Jun 7 2019, 07:16 PM)
Just proceed, fill in name etc, only can check the seat map.
Not yet pay, not consider as confirm.
However, the seat / availability will hold for some time (1 day?).
I need to go Manage Booking to cancel the ticket, only others can search for its availability.
*
If you can snag a suites class just book first and think later. That's what Milelion did here:
https://milelion.com/2017/01/12/how-to-try-...-a380-roulette/
USD15 cancellation fee only. How he manages to predict when / where / how the new Suites route will launch is incredible.
