i went to change my old atm card to new debit card recently, was told that the 'first 4 withdrawal free' option is not available anymore

it's still in their website...actually, the basic yellow colour pure atm card is still listed in their list of debit/atm cards...

however, there appears to be a range of debits cards available...and some will attract rm12 a year for unlimited withdrawals...so choose carefully which, don't just accept whatever they assign to you...

well currently i'm holding this atm card, mbb didn't inform me in black n white that i need to change to debit card by end of this year...
*
which is why i suspect the banks are pushing the debit cards under the pretext of complying with bnm's pos pin based directive, to try to get as many people away from pure atm cards as possible...and some here do not realise they have been had....

however, it is obvious those who already hold a debit card, which was signature based at pos, will need to migrate to a pin based card...

I have not received any notice to change my ATM card....

Well....if people are happy to accept any rubbish throw at them, that fine....but I know there is no need to change pure ATM cards based on the remit of the pin based move....and I will want to know why the banks wants to....I bank with their private banking, and even they don't know the reasons....other than 'bank policy's and 'orders from above'...

Our of topic anyway, so I stop here....

Don't simply flame people la. As if you are the almighty. I don't want to argue further too, I'm already using debit card since 3 years ago, I cannot stop using it anymore.

i stand by what i wrote...if people are happy to migrate to a debit card, fine...but others may not, and it is within our rights to question the need to do so....irrespective of what people think cs/bank officers are saying...

You should question the right people rather than ranting to us here who have no control. Same like shouting at another customer in a restaurant because your order taking very long. Sure you have the 'right' to, but it's still a stupid thing to do.

I am not sure why the last 2-3 pages have been talking about ATM/debit card when this is a CC thread

Because there was a treats fair, and people started talking about changing their debit cards there...and someone says ATM cards also must change...

I am making the point that it appears the pure ATM cards still exist, and should not need to change to a debit card....but you are right....out of topic.... My last post about ATM card here....

Not true. This option is still available. My mom just opened a new account with Maybank recently and I specifically requested for this option for her debit card. You just have to insist for it.

Anyway, this is out of topic already.

atm cards are already, by definition, pin based cards...at one point meps had an eftpos payment system, and it was pin based....so technically, there is NO need to change the pure atm cards...i have my 6 digit pin for atm access, and that can be used the same for pin based purchases, should i want to...

the issue is actually, what system our debit cards are based on nowadays...it appears msia has given up on national eftpos system, and adopted the visa/mc system....hence all the bankcards are visa/mc based...i suppose that makes sense, to ride on the very extensive visa/mc cc payment network...

my atm cards dates back to the early 90's and is a limited edition card with the picture of the Manara Maybank...and never expires...when they introduced the debit cards (cherry), i declined to "upgrade"....

my accounts are also annual charge free....never charged for the atm card use...

so i loath to have to change, and then have the bank negating on all the historical free nature of my accounts and cards...

p/s i just checked, the old atm card is actually plus enabled, so should be compatible with the visa network, i have actually withdrawn cash in foreign atms with the card, via the plus/visa network.....there is REALLY no need to force people like me to change, and it CANNOT be bnm's directive...as bnm's directive is purely to move payment system at pos into a pin based system...nothing to do with atm cards, which is already pin based anyway.... vmad.gif

OCBC is probably the only bank that is still keeping the old & pure ATM card. My mother was there and told by the staff there was no need to change. Only payment cards are affected.

You can see the expiring points in your statement.
*
QUOTE(mamamia @ Jul 30 2016, 07:42 PM)
But, the statement a bit tricky.. U must check every month, for eg, if u have points expired in 31 July, u can only c that in previous month statement, as following month statement will only show TPs that going to expired in 31 Aug.. If u have TP expired in 31 July, u can't see it at following month statement since it only show TP that going to expired on 31 Aug
*
ok, saw it, but its an accumulation of all the points, rather than by year basis. so we still have to monitor it in order not to let is lapse. Today is the expiry date for treatspoints earned prior to July 2013 according to here

Hi all. Need a help here. Planning to buy a moped for around RM 7000. My current CC limit is RM 5000.

The shop offers Ezypay. My question is whether is it possible for me to pay a deposit of RM2000 and pay the remaining by using Ezypay?

What do you mean by deposit?

If you meant, pay 2000 using cash and balance 5000 using CC ezypay, should be no issue unless the T&C state the ezypay must be for the full amount. Talk to the merchant.

Bank in 2k into your cr card via ATM. Then you'll be able to convert the 7k into Ezypay.

Have visited most Secret Recipe in JB and all are entitled! To be honest, M2C is best use here if you consider the RM45 promotion a valuable advantage.
