Quick questions:

Say, my cards expiring in September.

1. Can i go straight to 1u and apply for an upgrade to Platinum before expiry? (now i'm eligible) Do i need to bring along any supportive documentations?

2. Can i apply balance transfer at 1u branch? Anyone did that before?

Thanks.

It has typo, the former one I supposed it's missing "American Express". That's why I said whoever came out with this really sucks big time. I'm more surprised how can it be published out eventually.

What is interchange fee?

Interchange fee is a fee payable between the merchant’s bank (also known as the “acquirer”) and the cardholder’s bank (also known as the “issuer”) in a payment card transaction.

Interchange fee is typically payable by the acquirer to the issuer to compensate the issuer for certain costs incurred by the issuer in facilitating a payment card transaction. Interchange fee may also flow from the issuer to the acquirer to compensate acquirers for the cost of enabling payment card acceptance by merchants.

What is merchant fee or merchant discount rate (MDR)?

Merchant fee or MDR is a fee payable by a merchant to an acquirer for enabling the merchant to accept payment cards.

What is the relationship between the interchange fee and the MDR?

Interchange fee is incorporated into the MDR by the acquirer. Increases in the interchange fee would cause acquirers to raise the MDR.
