Yeah it's the same material, just different paint. I had them side by side once at a meetup. I love it a lot with cavalli amps, any kind really. But I thought it sounded best with my previous ECP amp.
I don't have any amp yet, was a budget set up and now only listening to my 6XX directly from my PC motherboard.
Is there any recommended amp at below RM400 in Malaysia?
Thanks for the suggestions. If I am willing to go a little bit more, would you suggest the Schiit Magni 3 or JDS Lab Atom? Both are highly recommended in reddit /r/headphones but I am not sure which is better for me (total newbs in amp).

The thing about getting Magni directly from Schiit website, the delivery and tax is a lot of money.

Also consider monolith liquid spark. DAC/Amp synergy is important for HD6XX/650; I've experimented with (and owned) lots of DACs and amps with different price range and the spark is at my top list for under $200. Well, to put it into perspective, I favor Matrix X-sabre + ECP DSHA-0 for hd6xx than holo spring level 3 KTE+ ECP DSHA-0 due to its synergy. What I am trying to say is, synergy is important for certain headphones and HD6XX/650 is one of them. Personally, between magni 3 and liquid spark, I prefer liquid spark as it brings more bass and musicality to hd6XX/650. Not sure about JDS atom though.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have researched the liquid spark and I have decided to go for the JDS labs atom instead. Quite a few people mentioned about the distortion and noise at certain volume. It might not happen to me / not obvious but I wouldn't be upgrading any time after this so I would go for the Atom which is a safe choice.
Won't be buying a separate DAC as well so yeah
Edit: come to think of it I really like the Liquid Spark's design a lot more and it is just a little tad warmer which i am now inclined to..omg tough choice

In my opinion, DAC is very important. However, having DAC alone and without amp, you couldn't get the full sound. My advise, just enjoy the headphone, if you are not satisfied then slowly upgrade
