Just sharing my experience.

Last night I registered Celcom First Gold 80 plan at Celcom BlueCube for one of my principal lines at Maxis.

Today 12.00 p.m., Maxis sent an SMS to confirm port out. I replied 'Yes'.

One hour later (at 1.00 p.m.), Maxis called me. Offered me the RM68 for 5GB with unlimited calls and SMS to all networks, no contract required. I said okay.

Then they activated my line 4 hours later, which is now. All in all, quite happy with this service from Maxis on a personal level. innocent.gif

Although this tactic seems a bit underhanded and is making a BIG joke out of Maxis's loyal existing customers, such counter-offer techniques are already being done for telcos in Europe, etc.

P/S: my primary number is still on Celcom, I only use Maxis for my secondary and tertiary lines. devil.gif

my friend is facing same thing...so is a dilemma of whether wanna risk the pain, pay penalty and port out, as that may result in a chance for that too, or stick on and continue paying the "overpriced" data on the market...
given current climate in the market...i believing they are risking this and also using this as mean to gauge what is the best range and pricing point they could counter with versus the market...so for different users that they attempt to counter, they will come with different tier and pricing...how they decide who gets what is beyond my understanding...but i think once they have a clear pic...probably its time their new plan release...

btw...did u do anything on your celcom port request?

If you ask me personally, I believe Maxis will never make the RM68 plan fully public to all Malaysians. Maxis very well knows that they are the go-to provider (to most people's eyes) IF the price is good.

Just imagine if the RM68 was announced and made fully available to all, I'm not sure if Maxis servers and base towers can handle the sudden influx of port-in users from Celcom, U-Mobile, DiGi, etc. Because trust me, that WILL definitely happen since Maxis's brand seems to be the 'best' among telcos now in Malaysia. brows.gif

P/S: I did not do anything special on my Celcom port-out request. I already have a line which is on First Gold 80 (Celcom). I just told the nice BlueCube staff that I want to port-in a line from Maxis to add as another principal line into my Celcom account. No questions asked. thumbup.gif

My guess they are gathering info which package price range will be acceptable

1) for those customers who requested to port out

they offer RM68/5g or RM88/7gb - they accept or reect

2) for those who have not request to port out YET

they offer RM98/5gb or RM11/7gb - to see whether customer accept or not

In my case they did ask, why I do not want to accept RM98 for 5gb I said expensive and my current usage around RM45-RM60

So my guess they are gathering some sort of info to make sure which package will make customers return to them again, probably not all, but some

True. To be honest, for Maxis to win back many customers, they just need to release a plan which is like in the range of RM80-RM85 for 5GB with unlimited calls/sms to all networks. After all, based on my personal experience, their line quality, stability, coverage and 4G strength overall is still the best.

oh...i had received 2 round of sms of porting request and porting reject since i accepted the offer...
wondering do i actually need to do sth about it... biggrin.gif

I received that exact SMS to confirm the port-out, and I replied Yes. Only after I replied Yes, then I received the 'counter-offer' call.

Your case the same as mine? hmm.gif

For those who take the offer rm68 and rm78 or rm98 .. 5gb (1gb+4gb) ..

Have you got ur free 4gb today ? As per promise by the loyal department which 4gb is credit every 7th of month ...

I still didnt got mine ...
So is this a lie ?
*
Not a lie for me.

I was promised RM68 for 5GB monthly with unlimited calls sms to all networks.

After I confirmed the counter offer acceptance with them, they upgraded my line to MaxisONE 5GB. I double-confirmed this by checking at the Maxis website for my account details.

Previously, this particular line of mine was under SurfMore50 plan.

It's just the same if u signed up for MaxisONE RM158 plan.

The RM68 charges will show only in your bill. I've yet to receive my bill on this since Maxis counter offer me just last week.

I still need to wait for my first bill to confirm.
But I guess other people here who got the counter offer should already have their bill with the revised lower price?
