Last night I registered Celcom First Gold 80 plan at Celcom BlueCube for one of my principal lines at Maxis.
Today 12.00 p.m., Maxis sent an SMS to confirm port out. I replied 'Yes'.
One hour later (at 1.00 p.m.), Maxis called me. Offered me the RM68 for 5GB with unlimited calls and SMS to all networks, no contract required. I said okay.
Then they activated my line 4 hours later, which is now. All in all, quite happy with this service from Maxis on a personal level.
Although this tactic seems a bit underhanded and is making a BIG joke out of Maxis's loyal existing customers, such counter-offer techniques are already being done for telcos in Europe, etc.
P/S: my primary number is still on Celcom, I only use Maxis for my secondary and tertiary lines.
