I read your question #1 again since I misread it. Mechanical keyboard won't help you get better in programming. I'm not sure what you're trying to say but I think you may have written your own question wrong. And about that keyboard, I can't remember his name but he's here. Just go few pages back, he have a big link in his signature. Also, MX Board 2.0 (by Cherry Corp. themselves) is now selling for RM170 only at Ultimate.Zone.
I use it with my laptop since my laptop gets very hot at the palm rest (stupid Nvidia).

Gateron Blues - I only knew one Rantopad MXX which is the one Im using right now to type you this recommendation tongue.gif
Total is less than RM230 if you buy yourself, if you use 3rd party taobao service then maybe more...
-----------------------
what about added these clones to your list for noobs too?
or are they just not worth mentioning as its same price as Cherry MX-Board 2.0?

Ive have seen many Vietnamese contractors in action they are more skilled > Indonesian > Myanmar > Bangala, Im generalising of course.

I just re-read jxsonl post, its funny how we interpret things in our minds, how we see the world through our eyes translated through our mind/belief systems which gives us our emotion ie good or bad etc...

I didnt translated it as as MK = badass programmer. I took his question as would it help him program in terms of fingers stress, lots of typing etc... going from laptop to MK. I personally have a laptop and hate typing on it, i just using a normal kb atm. feels much better then laptop kb.

currently deciding if i want to spend around RM250-300 to upgrade to a MK. the difference will probably not be as profound as going from laptop to normal KB.
Im leaning on using that money and getting a better speaker instead, Edifier R1900TV which is 2x more expensive.

Learn dvorak is not hard. You die die learn, sure can learn it.
Take your job as an example, let's say you have a boss..
Your boss, send you to new dept for new task, at the end, you still need to learn that.
Because you want that job.

I learn dvorak typing for reduce fingers stress from RSI.
Dvorak won't get you faster, that's always a fake rumors. I don't think my typing speed increase as well. I always capped around 75 wpm only max.
I think a lot during type, write codes, and write emails.
You look at those 10fastfingers or other typing website. Fastest and top ranking always qwerty. laugh.gif
*
Yeh im sure if i put my mind in it i would be able to pick itup. Its just I not that keen on re-learning, my mind tells me its hard, and boring, 66wps qwerty is ok, i dont type that much anyway, re-learn dvorak may not pay off, i would have more fun watching youtube or reading articles that i am interested in.

i know dvorak key placement is optimal, reduce fingers travel distance etc.. though that would translate to increases speed.
But yes the only real reason to learn dvorak in my opinion too is to reduce stress.

Hi guys recently got my first MK, newbie here
Logitech G710+ for RM307 after discount.

love the brown switches, it also comes with o ring but i dont know what type

I kind of prefer to shorten the travel depth.
I took a oring off a key and put 2x oring on the other key.

It feels good with 2x orings, 3x orings will not fit.

-What kind of orings do G710+ use?

-should i get some ones which is extra thick so i just use 1x thick oring instead of 2x thin orings?

-hard to find locally and very expensive
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/120Pcs-Sili...4eb735cf7&tpp=1

good deal?

The g710+ might have an issue with keycap stems breaking which I think is made worse by using o-rings especially thick ones since it shortens the portion of the stem that slots into the switch and that weakens the keycap.

if it breakes i cna just replace it with standard keycaps right?

newbie here
mk vs rubber membrane/laptop

still trying to get use to the brown switches, i noticed it needs to travel like 1mm before it actually starts to hit the bump/ramp
eg first 0-1mm is the 45g then from 1-2mm is the 55g bump/ramp

find myself not tying as fast as i need to push down longer distance before it registers compared to laptop or membrane
i initially thought it was the 4mm bottoming out, but when i type most of the time i will not bottom out, so putting 2x o-rings will not help this issue.

wish there was something like the cherry silent brown equivalent.
eg short actuation distance of only 1.2mm instead of 2mm
eg 0-1.2mm is 55g straight up to Tactile Force bump/ramp. so its kind of like laptop / membrane

is this something to get use to? or you guys will pass this phase?
or you guys actually like the long travel distance?

Blue VS Brown

Besides the slight difference in actuation force
and clicky sound

Are there much difference in tactile bump? (does the blue have a recoil bump?)
Or would you guys say is it barely noticeable between Blue VS Brown?

Das Keyboard 5Q
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/122957...nected-keyboard

Saw that article few days ago.
for the lucky first 800 were able to pre-order at US109
You can still get it for US139 early bird, only 500 units left.

Omron = ZULU GAMMA RGB switches
Omron is a Japanese company famous for making switches for almost all best gaming mouses around.

The switch looks good, it dose have a single stem in the middle instead it has 4 at the sides which allows for better LED lid, and i think it will most probably reduce the key wobble. cherry stems are weak and it wobbles from side to side soo much.

it has a short travel and actuation point which is my preference too.
100 million actuation man, that is double cherrys.

for US109-139 i think its great value

Kinda feel its going to be similar to logitech romer g switches. Also manufactured by omron.
*
oh i didnt know the romer g were made by omron too, tho the design is very similar.
tried it few weeks ago, they feel better then my browns, keys dont wobble as much, they feel very solid.
the cherrys just feels like its not sitting properly and would break off any moment like a lose tooth.

Can someone tell me why my Gateron Black Switches 62G gold spring got sticky effect after I've left it in a bag inside a bag for like a week? I've applied vigorous amount but not too much lubricant on all of them. All of my switches are sticker as  fk now, it's like I've spilled soda all over them... This is the lubricant that I used From Taobao
Did I applied too much or I used the wrong lubricant?
Should I apply this one instead? Taobao White Grease So far I've only applied it on the stabilizer instead of the switches, not sure if I'm doing it wrong but I've follow the guide over at GH forum to lube my switches.
Please advice on what to do next as this is my first self build mechanical keyboard  icon_question.gif

organic oil will not work it will get thick/sticky after a while, you have to use synthetic oil, some guy reported he used synthetic car steering oil it had the right viscosity, used it on his blues and after 2 years its still fine, reason he used it on blue is he wanted to reduce the noise of blue which he claims was very successful.
