Actually, you have a whole bunch of alternatives for keycaps if you are not into backlit. PBT types are by far, the best. Add on dyesub feature, feels like heaven for your fingers!
*
I looked into that, tried finding orange/black keycaps like the Ducky One full size non-backlit but no avail. So might as well do it.

So you'll mod your ducky one into LEDs one? Will you add extra part such as resistor/diodes for the LEDs? I'm quite curious since I have Ducky One full size non back-lit now, thinking about buying some LED socket myself. Will your keyboard has the function to turn the LEDs on/off?
*
As far as I know, both backlit and non-backlit has exact same components minus the LEDs. According to one of the posts by Ducky Keyboard, which states the non-backlit version can be upgraded by simply changing the firmware.
That actually made me wonder, why did Ducky bother to have two different firmwares in the first place then? sweat.gif

Sorry I didn't see this yesterday. I got some images of the PCB few pages back, it looks like there's resistors on the board already.
Anyway I try soldering one of the LED first when it arrives. I'll report back.

I know CM keyboards are well-renowned here, but I thought of weighing my own experiences in.
I got a Rapid-i last time. Didn't like it because of the placement of FN key. IMO they should've taken the right Windows key instead of the Menu key.

I'm not sure if CM still does that now, but it's something to note. Why I chose he Ducky One now is because of the DIP switches at the back to change the FN key to the Menu key outright.

I have one too, a brown MX, got it the week stocks became available. Only 2 complaints. One, wish there have a software for the RGB setup and two, the side bezel near the spacebar is squeeky.
*
I got the MX Brown too! Personally I own a non-backlit TKL version myself with brown switch too. I like classic black switch better. The RGB variant of brown switch feels more like a red switch to me.
I also agree with the lack of software to control lor, can't select 16.8 million colours with higher detail.
Anyway which part of the bezel squeaking?

Wow, I didn't have that on the one I'm playing with though.

Any expectation on how it would be? hmm.gif
Personally I expect it to be quite tedious - need to solder on LED, check resistance and power etc.

My earlier guide did specify where the switch is. You can start from there.
There's an YouTube guide by Tae Keyboards which pinpoints all the things you need to know in replacing switches

Ducky One TKL - Blue LED backlit
CM QFR-I - White LED backlit
CM Masterkeys Pro S - RGB LED backlit

On which one to chose, it really is a matter of your personal preference as they are all good keyboards.

Btw, cherry MX blue switch is not very ideal for gaming, at least not for me.

Or buy a Ducky One TKL non-backlit version and solder LEDs of your own colour choice.
