Hi all sifus, Planning to change new tyres for my CX5, currently on original Goodyear Wrangler HP 225/65R17 which I find noisy (50k+km). Checking around PJ area, seems to have limited options: Yoko Geolander G055, Goodyear Efficientgrip SUV, Conti Cross Contact LX, Michelin Primacy SUV. Anyone have experience on the above or recommendations? Thanks alot!

QUOTE(li_5997 @ Mar 8 2016, 10:52 AM) Interested to know too... Rim size, ppl say will increase FC is change to bigger size. CX-5 can fit 19" Rim Bigger rims usually means heavier rims too so that's why increase FC and makes the car slower. In order to tackle this negative effects, you need to find lightweight rims so even though bigger can be actually lighter than the smaller original rims. The problem is such lightweight rims normally are more expensive.

Is primacy suv a all-weather tyre? Original cx-5 tyres are of all weather type though.

Seems to be marketed as all weather on their website.
Any recommendations from SUV drivers with similar tyre profile ? eg. CX5, CRV, XV, X trail, etc.

changed my CX5 17" into Conti LX2. Didnt really like the thread, pebbles easily get stucked. Noise wise acceptable. Dry ok, do not feel very confident in wet.
Still prefer the ori Yokos. Used them for about 40k kms. Noise level low, cornering solid. Good in both dry and wet.
Wanted to get the Michelin SUV but not available when I changed tyres last year.
Not many choices at 225/65R17. Take note there are two Yokos model G055 and G098. I believe the ori CBUs come with G098.

Is there any difference between the two Yokos? The threads are different. Saw the G055 and didnt like it. Suspect the thread is likely better for offroad. G098 thread seems to be better for noise and city use. In any case I used it for 2 yrs and loved it. Just difficult to find. I really wanted the Michelin SUV but it wasnt available then. Try the shops in Klang for the Michelins. The last time I checked the prices I believe the Mich SUV can be purchased for between RM450-500 thereabouts. Not sure if subject to GST and/or valve/balancing etc though. Call and check. LX2 should be slightly cheaper probably RM430-RM480. These kind of pricing, its worth the drive to Klang. The regular cheap folks at Klang are Jooi Seng, Hin Leong, Good Wood and Ban Hooi.

Yes actually made some calls the Primacy SUV is close to rm500 all inclusive GST, balancing, alignement in klang (cheapest) and G055 is about rm480 from another shop in USJ. So the price difference is not so much between tthe two, and more of personal choice on performance.... i guess, both are made in thailand

Thanks for sharing. if i'm not mistaken now the lattitude is replaced with the primacy SUV? Also Spec X is not so easily avaliable. most shops offering G055 for yokohama on 225/65R17

Finally decided on primacy SUV and got it installed over the weekend. Quieter and i think handles bumps better than the stock Wranglers but was expecting lower noise. Maybe need to run in the tires for a bit....
Before deciding two different dealers claimed that made in japan tires (eg. conti and bridgestone) were superior to the thai made primacy SUV? any one have their experience on this?

Even though made in Thailand or Indonesia or even China, these branded tires are made already using the same standard as what they should be. The Bridgestone RE003 which has been getting many positive reviews are actually made in Thailand or Indonesia. Continental tires actually mostly made in Germany or other European countries and some in Malaysia. Some tires made in Japan are also not guaranteed to perform the best, it all depends on the model type.

I just installed primacy suv, by trading in the stock goodyear wrengler tyres. Top up rm1200 including gst, alignment and balancing. Not sure if this is good deal but previously i m happy user of primacy 3st on another sedan car model. Confident with michellin but cost higher.

Been using the LX2 for more than a year now and I seem to have problems with tyre quality. No matter how many shops I send it to, no one can balance it for me. Steering shakes at 100kmh and car automatically veer left. Every shop is saying tyre problem.

Observation made on my dad's CR-V. Primacy SUV quieter & more comfort. Great on dry & wet grip. Not on hard corner though (if you plan to drive hardly on SUV. ). Current use below 10k. Better than previous tyre, GoodYear EfficientGrip SUV. Noisy & massive crack on outer thread after 2 years. Let see how is it.

CX-5 can fit 19" Rim If your cx5 are all wheel drive suggest remain the rim size since all alloy rims the bigger the heavier and put a lot stress for your rear differential even your not all wheel drive and fw also not suggest , unless you bought the rim 19 inch weight like 15 inch then you can consider but too much hole for Malaysia road that light weight rim will bang so easily , so never trust any experience or non experience tyre center , remain factory default always a good choice

I'm using Conti LX and the outer walls are damn fragile. koyak here and there like nobody business but luckily it's the outer surface only.
Noise level is acceptable but after 30+k mileage, it is becoming noisy
