QUOTE(ylchew77 @ Sep 18 2018, 09:24 PM) Hi guys, When they detain a figurine they will ask the recipient to go to the office regardless of the reasoning.I hv ordered a figure from Japan but now kena tahan by custom maybe bcos the figure is too sexy. Since they asked me to collect from custom, so there still got a chance to get it rite? otherwise they sud confiscated directly. Normally wat they wan when they ask u to collect from custom? Here is a photo of the figure........... ![]() Even if you import a prohibited item like say some gun holster, or some switchblade they will STILL ask u to go to the office. Then they will decide. Perhaps you have some sort of letter that allow the importation of such item, then they will release it. Otherwise, they will open it and tell you its prohibited, without valid reason/approval, they will say they will "post the item back to sender" which they never do... |

QUOTE(Exiled_Gundam @ Sep 22 2018, 01:11 PM) If ask you to collect it means either the declared value is over the RM 500 limit, or they suspected the declared value is fake. If the item was confiscated they won't inform you to collect They cannot arbitrarily confiscate. They still need you to go just incase you have special permit etc. |

QUOTE(WingNut @ Oct 26 2018, 11:27 AM) my sentiments exactly! have been looking out for them lights and knives ever since Well it depends. p.s. for the most part, they're also more affordable than my diecast aircraft collection! I almost pulled the trigger on a CR Mnandi with oak grip on my last trip to the states, but didnt go thru cause i feel its abit too small for my hands.... that would have set me back around $400 Edit : I also have a collection of katanas, but more affordable ones.. so around 2~3k each only. Good quality and price for the amount of work/material involved... This post has been edited by MeToo: Oct 26 2018, 11:34 AM |

QUOTE(Ryutaro @ Oct 26 2018, 02:05 PM) come on guys u cant use knife collection to compare Pretty sure they do not do regular touch up of paintings...if i din remember wrongly those paintings they store in museum needs to do touch up paint and dust clearing every month(or once per few months) to keep the color vibrant as well so if u want to keep the figure in a good condition u gotta start doing maintenance on ur own.. https://www.pri.org/stories/2012-08-25/amat...-painting-spain |

QUOTE(Ryutaro @ Oct 26 2018, 03:36 PM) only those who know what they are doing does the maintenance, that news is just what could go wrong when u leave it to amateur to do it... I'm aware of art conservation/restoration.normally its just some simple maintenance job until there are missing spots or damaged spots... read this if u want to know more.. granted they do not do it regularly because they control the environment that preserve paintings very well but museum largely do NOT touch a painting unless its absolutely necessary. |

QUOTE(redwing7394 @ Nov 14 2018, 12:40 AM) Nice! Even when the total price on the postage slip is above RM500? I guess I was unlucky then. It went through two kastam, KL and Butterworth. When I looked at the kastam stamp, it was dated on the day it was at KL. They must have already targeted my parcel over there. The drive to and from Sepang...Ya pretty unlucky this time The tol... The petrol... The time involved.... For me... I'll pay Pos Malaysia the RM50 |

QUOTE(squall_12 @ Nov 14 2018, 06:30 PM) hi guy, Lets put it this way...Need help i buy figure- (Price 80 and shipping DHL put high RM320) so total value of the item is RM400 and DHL tell me custom still charge me tax for RM100 which is crazy and so anyway can fight this off because no way i am paying RM100 for the stupid tax? DHL asked me paid first then check with custom which i feel is stupid. I used some flyer points to free exchange stuff form an airline. Total weight is 2kg. The tax comes up to USD50 which I need to PREPAY to FedEx.. |

QUOTE(swx999 @ Nov 15 2018, 01:27 AM) Previously fedex did it all the way and now DHL also doing the same thing which is ridiculous. =.= Actually many countries do practice these so called "official rate" especially for import/tax purpose.I wonder what is the use of shipping fee declaration when our kastam is using the so called "official" price list to estimate the shipping cost. When you contact them, they will say they can't do anything and ask you to talk with kastam. You will be kicked like a ball around. When you call kastam, they will say they only have the "official list" and they estimate based on the list. I wonder if this can be brought to court as every single seller oversea are using the same rate (the actual rate we paid for). It is impossible for the seller to help us paying the remaining without charging us. But still the courier insist putting the "official rate" at their website, allowing the kastam to leech us. You may try discuss with them ( I did success once discussing with them by first refuse to sign the parcel, in the end they allow for negotiation, but the 2nd time I try, the kastam side say "it is like that", we follow the rate.) It is so annoying when you can even prove the actual fee you paid but they refuse to take a look at it. Last time I told them I can log in to my order history at the seller website and let them check but they refused to do so. Obviously it is a grey area for both party to take advantage at receiver. Seriously I hope some people with law knowledge in this field can help us to make voice of such issue. Otherwise this situation is just forcing us to make underdeclaration. (I made once before when I am fxxxking annoying that few of my parcels which is declared at actual value were taxed because of the stupid shipping rate.) FYI, their rate is started at min RM200 approximately. So basically a normal shipment will be estimated at about RM3xx for 500g above. So in the end you can only order items around RM150. Just like say if you export something to India, they will have in their system "Item A, price $500". Even if you traded the item at $200, the tax will STILL be based on the "official" $500 figure. This is to prevent people form escaping tax by fraudulent transactions. So what business tend to do s, know the rate the country is using, and factor it in when buying/selling. |

QUOTE(WingNut @ Nov 16 2018, 04:53 PM) here's the thing... i hardly use fedex/dhl (they're generally more expensive, no?). i would say 99% my figures have always been shipped via EMS. the thing about fedex/dhl (correct me if i'm wrong) is that they will usually kaotim the tax and what nots first and make you pay upon delivery. they don't give you the option of clearing it with customs personally... but they don't charge you extra for the delivery as they're already obligated to deliver to you anyway. DHL/FedEx is super hassle free... their tracking updates is also first class...But.. you pay for the service, their upfront "tax clearance" might be scary |

QUOTE(AngryDoll @ Nov 19 2018, 07:57 AM) So Fedex pay the tax first then collect it from you. Will custom open and check the content when they are dealing with fedex agent? Yes, they will collect the tax upfront, whether they pay or not I dont know, but I have never faced any further tax issue with them, its good when you want to know what is the max/exact cost you're going to get hit without any surprises/I have never had problem with customs for FedEx/DHL. |

QUOTE(Ryutaro @ Dec 4 2018, 12:47 PM) not sure if u guys know a bout this but kinokuniya start doing preorder services for nendoroid and figures Very nice.https://www.kinokuniya.com.my/nendoroid/ thou some of the figures price was really high, it's still good to have another option to compare the price on. Some of the figures they have there might not even pass our lovely Kastam officers if we import them directly... Priced also seems ok... expect a premium compared to those boutique toy stores |
