Dafuk kastam 

My parcel from Amiami (declared value 12060yen) was detained by Kastam. After I called them and ask why, they replied Kastam will randomly detained parcel that was declared to be below RM 500. Parcel owner then need to prove that the item was indeed below RM 500. Kastam for KL/Selangor is damn far, with no public transport access aside from cab. So either go there and waste money for petrol and toll, or let poslaju become your agent and pay them RM 50, which can be more expensive than the tax (if applicable) itself

Finally got her after 1 month detained. 

Yea no choice but to buy local, recently pre-order this teddy bear from toy panic. The bear is ok, but the accessory that come with it probably will have problem with customs 

it seems like they taxed you at a rate of 20% on the total cost [item+freight+insurance].

the RM50 disbursement fee is charged by DHL to facilitate the release of the item.

As for the  calculation, your shipment was done by way of CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight), so usually custom will tax % based on the total cost, so that is correct. as for the import duties for toys is currently 20%, so I think the custom calculation is correct. as for avoiding payment, if you want you item you have to pay DHL :-/

i thought for start june no more gst and so tax should be free as well

He's in Penang. Though one of my friend who worked in kastam in Klang Valley area told me toys shouldn't get taxed since before this toys were taxed under GST only. And since GST is zero-rated there shouldn't be tax anymore. Actually can anyone show where it stated that import tax for toys is 20%? Can't find it so far when I checked.

Now GST 0% means we won't kena tax if above RM500?

if they say same as before gst, then mostly if kena kastam detain then will charge 10% tax, as before toys tax is 10%
