Single band or dual band?

Handheld or mobile?

for a cheap starter set go for:

Handheld - Yaesu VX170, Icom v85, v82, which will set you back bout RM600. If you have some cash, move to something like Yaesu FTR60(dualband and trunking scan) RM850

Mobile - Everyones favorite would be Icom's 2200H(RM600) or Icom V8000(RM700) couple that with MC101(<RM100) or any mag mounts ...

that should be the average setup anyone could afford i think ...

hey anyone knows the process of applying reciprocal license? im lazy to check it out can anyone tel lme?
*
why u need a reciprocal license for? u going overseas? or migrating ar?

acording to this, if u are a license holder from on of the countries in the pact, then u need to go to that country and get yourself a reciprocal license from that countries governing body ...

QUOTE
Reciprocal Operating Agreement

  1. Thailand
  2. Indonesia
  3. Laos
  4. Vietnam

  6. India
  7. China
  8. Mongolia
  9. United Kingdom

umm earl-ku the list is for? ya i know sg is nt in the list...
*
the list are all the countries which have agreed upon with the Reciprocal Operating Agreement

so if the country is not in the list, u need to check with the respective authority when you want to transmit in that country ...

there are times when some ad-hoc agreement are agreed upon in some countries ... like the PAT(Petronas Adventure Team) team when they go to another country, they can have some sort of an ad-hoc callsign for that particular duration they are in that country ...

hehehe belacan = FRS rupanya...i like belacan...manyak syiok wooo but can use belacan TX to repeater ke??
*
ehhehe

thats cross band repeater la ...

FRS set or any UHF set TX --> UHF Dualband Set (with cross band repeat)

UHF Dualband Set TX --> VHF in the same set to repeater

receive in the same way ...

masuk ke set to VHF band then to UHF TX back to ur UHF set ...

hehe

it sounds kinda confusing ...means in the same mobile set it Tx back(the VHF it receives) to ur set in UHF
