Hi guys,
I suppose this is slightly OT, but i've got a Uniden BC246T, which, isn't a ham radio, but it's a scanner.. I've been listening to various trunking systems and it isn't much fun here since it seems that PDRM has switched to ASTRO 25 and all I get are construction sites/security/1utama support staff/ppl singing at 1am/bad jokes over the radio.
Granted I should have gotten the BC396T which does digital, but seeing as somebody has mentioned that PDRM's units are fitted with encryption modules anyways, I didn't think that would have been a wise investment..
So what frequencies do you guys use? I'd be interested in "listening" in as hopefully it'll be more interesting then the above-mentioned.
Thanks!
you do know that scanner are illegal in Malaysia - and even if u listen to trunking, they switch everytime the the ptt is pressed sooits kinda hard to follow ... and pdrm scanning ar, all i can tell is they operate on 170 - 180 on most states and district but recently if u noticed they have added a UHF antenna to their patrol car, so i would say they are utilising the UHF band as well ... not sure la, those can be trunking as well .... the long antenna is VHF and the short one is UHF as UHF's propagation is just not that strict ...I suppose this is slightly OT, but i've got a Uniden BC246T, which, isn't a ham radio, but it's a scanner.. well if they do not have scramblers u mah can listen lo ... most out of KL, smaller districts will nt have one, so u can tune in to them ... but its kinda boring as its conversation between base console and patrol cars ... those out on speciallops will use uhf mostly ...
