Greeting everyone! Any enlisted army or navy men/women here? I'm keen on joining after I finish my degree. If I've read the website correctly, it's somewhat similar to the States in terms of Officer school, considering I'll be entering with a university degree.

Could anyone shed some light on the enlisting process? I remotely remember that the public service + police and military was frozen a couple of years back. Have they started recruiting again? Would appreciate any feedback from anyone who's currently serving. Thanks!

Hi, atreyuangel.

Thanks for the heads up! Are you currently serving? or have served in the past? Are you open to answering some questions?
*
Sure, I'll try to answer it as best as I can, when I can. Quite busy this week.

There are others that will gladly answer any questions for you.

No worries, other than you and LTZ are there more army/navy/air force men and women here? I've actually got a lot of questions.

If it's okay I'll drop you some DMs?
*
Sure go ahead.

They are reguler soldier. In AASAM competition, there is not only shooting skill competition. But also military technique and physics endurance to be competed.

Not disputing anything about his credibility as a soldier but I thinks I recognised by him from the Olympic squad. A medalist as well.

It's normal for member or the uniform to participate is sports.
Even Malaysian Commonwealth past medalist is from PDRM

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ May 27 2016, 03:06 PM)
Haha it bugs me when I mention police force deployed at Lahad Datu incident, some people imagine that beat cops in blue, armed with revolvers, (like those patrolling their neighborhood), went to fight the Sulu intruders back then.

At least one person was genuinely surprised when I said the PGA are fully trained and armed paramilitary troopers. When I explained that PGA was sort of like soldiers belonging to the PDRM, the only reaction I got was "Got such thing meh?".  laugh.gif

well, dulu nama Polis Hutan so there is some meaning to it laugh.gif

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ May 27 2016, 03:39 PM)
Considering only 2 troopers were KIA, I'd say the PGA did a good job. Note that the Army also lost 2 soldiers, although one of them died in a traffic accident.

People who always cited that the PDRM lost a lot of men conveniently forgot that out of the 10 total casualties including the above, 6 were plainclothes Special Branch officers who were ambushed by heavily armed gunmen in Semporna water village.

during the ambush only some of them is SB, iinm there was even volunteer police from other department.
They volunteer just for the sake of the country.
