A Jordanian official reported to Khaberni that a military chopper crashed today in Mafraq in the north of Jordan.

The official source added that the chopper was conducting a routine training mission when it crashed as a result of a sudden technical malfunction.

The pilot survived the crash and was rushed to the hospital having suffered moderate-level injuries.

A military aircraft on Thursday skidded off the runway while landing at the Air Force Base in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.

Sources in the Aviation Sector say no casualty was recorded in the incident but that the aircraft lost a tyre in the incident.

This incident is coming five months after an Air Force aircraft, NAF801, belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, crashed in Hong, Adamawa State.

IDF Brig.-Gen. Munir Amar, 47,  was named as the piolt who died Friday when the light plane he was operating crashed into a mountainside in the North near the Misgav region.

Amar served as the head of the COGAT Civil Administration in the West Bank and previously served as a former battalion commander in the predominantly Druze "Herev" Brigade.

An air ambulance helicopter crashed on Friday in Iran's central province of Fars, killing everyone on board, Iranian media reported.

State TV said the helicopter was taking a patient from a remote area to the city of Shiraz when it crashed. The patient, four medics and two crew were killed, the broadcaster said.

The semi-official Fars news agency said nine people were killed, including five injured in a car accident, it quoted police official Mohammad Hossein Hamidi as saying.

The official IRNA news agency put the death toll at 10.

A local official told state TV the cause of the crash was under investigation. Iran's official news agency IRNA said the area had experienced storms and heavy rainfall in recent days.

ALGIERS- A helicopter of transport of Algerian air forces troops crashed Sunday night near Reggan (Adrar), due to technical failure. Twelve soldiers were killed and two others injured, said a statement from the Ministry Department National Defence (MDN).

"The Mi-171 helicopter of troop transport has crashed Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 18:00 PM during a scheduled mission conducted near Reggan, at the operational sector of Adrar (3rd Military Region," the statement said.

The Ministry of National Defence deplores "the death of twelve soldiers," adding that "two others were injured.”

"Following this tragic accident, the Commander of the 3rd Military Region immediately moved to the scene, to inquire about the extent of damage and take the necessary action in such situations, "notes the source said.

As for him, ”Deputy Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the National Popular Army, Lt General Ahmed Gaid Salah immediately ordered

the appointment of a commission of inquiry to determine the circumstances of the accident," the statement concluded.

A pilot safely ejected from a U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter jet shortly before it crashed near Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan Tuesday, military officials announced.

Medical teams are evaluating the pilot, the officials add. They did not release the pilot's name. The jet, assigned to the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, crashed during takeoff around 8:30 p.m. local time.

Coalition forces were said to be securing the site of the crash. Its cause was unclear.

Bagram Airfield is roughly 30 miles north of Afghanistan's capital city, Kabul.

Is that protrusion on the rear ground based radar? What I wanted to see was the approx height retracted of the mast mount and whether its telescopic or folding.

Thanks. That looks easily 3m above turret roof, maybe 4m above the AV8 hull. Does ours have the ground radar? Rheinmetall's webpage says modular and dismountable.

I'd prefer a lighter, less conspicous AFV as a recon vehicle though, probably something wheeled. Recon missions have different parameters than combat missions. You don't need that much firepower and armor on recon. Going for stealth and mobility is a better option.

An Afghan Air Force (AAF) helicopter has reportedly made emergency landing in the eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.

The incident has taken place in Nari district while it was providing logistics support to the Afghan national security forces.

Provincial governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said he is aware of an incident involving the emergency landing of the helicopter apparently due to technical issues.

Another official said the crew and passengers of the helicopter survived the incident unhurt.

MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. A Sukhoi Su-25 attack aircraft crashed on Wednesday during the landing at an airfield in Russia’s Far Eastern Primorye territory, the defense ministry said.

The Su-25 jet (NATO reporting name: "Frogfoot") was performing a training flight, the ministry’s press service said.

"The pilot ejected, his life and health are not under threat. The flight was made without an ammunition allowance. There are no casualties or destruction on the ground," it said.

A ministry’s commission for flights safety is heading to the crash scene.

A source in the law enforcement agencies earlier told TASS that the aircraft crashed near Chernigovka airfield due to "engine malfunction."

"The aircraft fell on a garden, not on the houses," the source said, adding that the plane hit two household buildings that caught fire.

The local administration confirmed that crash occurred in Primorye’s Chernigovsky settlement, adding that there were no casualties or serious destruction.

SEOUL, March 30 (Yonhap) -- A South Korean F-16D fighter jet crashed during a mission on Wednesday, but the two pilots safely ejected from the stricken plane, the Air Force said.

The combat airplane plunged into an uninhabited hill in Cheongsong, 322 kilometers southeast of Seoul, at 4:06 p.m. without causing any damage to civilians.

The ejected pilots were unhurt, the Air Force said in a brief press release.

The single-engine jet from the Air Force's fighter wing based in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, was conducting a mission when the accident took place, it said.

"The Air Force is investigating the exact cause of the accident after setting up an emergency accident handling committee," according to the Air Force.

AMMAN – A Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) pilot was killed and another was injured when their Hawk aircraft crashed early Thursday during a training mission, according to an army statement.

The statement by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army identified the killed pilot as Major Muath Bani Fares and the injured as Captain Sharaf Al Tafour.

The statement did not give details on the reason of the crash.

In Rostov, while attempting to take off on Rostov airport caught fire military aircraft AN-26.

The incident occurred on March 29. According to the publication, the crew noticed a fire in the area of the right wing, when the aircraft began to takeoff.

The Take-off was aborted. The plane had to stop within the runway strip. It is reported that as a result of the accident no one was hurt, but the plane was seriously damaged: the right engine completely burned down, cut off the screw and gear.

It clarifies that the board carried out a training flight.

Two people were killed Thursday after their car crashed into a parked F/A-18E Super Hornet at the Naval Air Station Lemoore during a pursuit with law enforcement.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee died at an area hospital, and the female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the air station, located in the Central Valley. Their identities have not been publicly released, but naval air officials said they were not affiliated with the military.

“Regardless of procedures we have in place, something went wrong, and we had a tragic accident,” said Navy Capt. Monty Ashliman, the installation’s commanding officer.

“We had some ... damage to an aircraft, and we had two tragic losses of life, so we got to figure out a way to prevent that from happening in the future,” Ashliman told reporters at a news conference Thursday.

The pursuit began late Wednesday when California Highway Patrol officers approached a Jeep that was parked on the side of the road in Kings County, in order to check on the welfare of those inside, CHP Lt. Dave Knoff said.

The driver of the Jeep drove away at a high speed, and patrol units quickly followed. The Jeep began weaving and refused to stop, Knoff said.

CHP officers called off the pursuit when the driver began traveling in the wrong direction on California State Route 198 in Lemoore, but the chase resumed again in Fresno County.

The Jeep drove through the air station’s front gate before security had time to deploy bollards, Lt. Jr. Grade Madison McSweeney said.

Security forces at the installation responded, while a CHP helicopter flew over the area and monitored the pursuit.

As the Jeep drove along an airstrip, it crashed into the parked fighter jet’s horizontal stabilizer, at the rear of the aircraft. 

A full assessment on damage to the twin-engine jet is still being conducted.

An investigation will be conducted to determine how the Jeep was able to bypass security checkpoints. Authorities do not believe the installation was a target.

“There will be many investigations that will be ongoing to make sure that personnel and assets and taxpayers dollars are taken care of the best way we possibly can,” Ashliman said.

BAGHDAD - An Iraqi Mi-35 helicopter crashed south of Baghdad due to a "technical problem" Monday, security officials said, the latest in a series of military helicopters to go down.

A colonel in Iraq's Joint Operations Command said an "Mi-35 training helicopter crashed as a result of a technical problem," but that the crew survived.

The helicopter went down on Monday morning near the city of Kut, south of Baghdad.

Sahib al-Chlaibawi, the head of the Wasit province security committee, confirmed that the helicopter had crashed during a training mission, but no one was killed.

Iraq has lost multiple helicopters to accidents and ground fire in recent years, while others have been damaged.

A war plane has been shot down in the province of Aleppo, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has said.

The plane caught fire before falling in the Talat al-Iss highland, according to the group.

Syrian state TV said the plane, reportedly a Su-22, belonged to the Syrian Air Force, adding that it was downed by a surface-to-air missile and that the pilot was ejected. This has not yet been confirmed.

A rebel source said the pilot had been captured by the Nusra Front, which has links to militant group al Qaeda.

In video footage that purports to show the plane crash, the pilot appears to use a parachute to land on the ground before being captured by opposition forces.

A source speaking to RIA Novosti also said it was a Syrian warplane. Sputnik News reported that the source said: “Militants have downed a warplane, which had been on a combat duty in the province of Aleppo.”

A British Aerospace U-125 of the Japan Air Self-Defence Force is reported missing over the Kagoshima prefecture, Japan with 6 persons on board.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the aircraft disappeared from radar at Kitayaku 10 kilometers of Japanese Self-Defense Force Kanoya base.

The aircraft operated on a navaid calibration flight out of Kanoya Air Base.
