 Airbnb japan

Recently encounter my host in kyoto cancel my booking and i found out there is law in japan for this as the host suddenly now cancel all the booking almost last minute

So what is the final decision now? Is airbnb usuable in japan or should i book a hotel instead? Thanks for the help

I am still keeping my 2 reservations with airbnb. I have made a back up booking at toyoko inn for 1 of them. Have you try contacting your other hosts?

I contacted my host and he assured me it is ok, despite the news.

I do want to play safe with a backup but it seems everything left is the expensive high end hotels.

I contacted my host so far they said no cancel la but i am worry that if they last minute cancel and there is no hotel then what to do? Hmm

I am counting on the fact that my hosts have around 8 properties listed each. So I dont think they will take drastic action.

Currently I have 1 in Hiroshima (2N) and 1 in Osaka (5N). If really super bad luck, I plan to negotiate with my host in Osaka for an extra day, making it 6 nights (if they follow OTA regulation). While for the other 1 day, will book a hotel in Hiroshima budgeting about RM600. 1 night on Friday still can find some units but the next day Saturday problem.

just booked Airbnb for Osaka and Kyoto for April trip.

At least there is framework now. They should not have let the guests to keep guessing.

Majority of Honshu area is ok desu, Kanto, since there's more highend hotel than budget and mid-range hotel and Budget/Mid-range hotel tend to be full most of the time. AirBnb is the only way tourist can afford nowadays.
but Okinawa and Hokkaido becareful because the Hotel people and Ryokan people are not happy with it.

last 2 month i also booked airbnb. so far did not received any cancellation for my host.

hopefully all smooth if not i will sleep on street cry.gif

Mine got cancelled 2 weeks before I was due to arrive. Here's a long reply from the host who gave me a heart attack while I was in midst of coordinating an event:

Anyway I managed to book another accommodation and the money from this booking was refunded almost immediately by airBnB. It was still all good in the end, but I was seriously thrown into panic upon receiving the email especially the period I went was quite peak - Nov (autumn).

Even with this, I'll still opt for airBnB in future due to the convenience and comfort. I'm not so fond of hotels because if we go in a group of 4, it'll be 2 pairs in 2 separate rooms. But with airBnB, we could all hang out together (although there'll be some issues managing the use of toilet and bathroom!).

I've recently booked my stay with Airbnb for Tokyo few months ago in January. Everything went well and we had no issues whatsoever.

My friend is in Japan now staying in Airbnb. No issues. She's very happy with her unit. It's not her first time booking thru Airbnb for Japan.

I used http://booking.com loved this website because it allows you to book without the commitment of paying (but they do capture your credit card details as a guarantee for no show) and sometimes they even throw in free cancellation if you cancel about a week before. And its always about $1 to $10 cheaper than other sites.
