Anyone think in Malaysia unless you work near special areas like Diving site o beach there's a lack of special activities?

Most activities available during weekends usually Shopping, Cinema, Golf, Themeparks, Casino, General Sports, Food & Drink I think sums it up. These are generally General activities for the whole family, but not for you.

Since Malaysia is hot weather country i'm not expecting snow boarding/skiing on Mt. Kinabalu, but still got many other things not involving snow.

For example many countries like US/Aus/Japan has lots of race tracks for weekend drivers to fulfill their adrenaline needs, they just need to drive next town, here there's only Pasir Gudang & Sepang + some no name circuit where people rarely organize anything for public, so car clubs have to use public roads to organize events. If race tracks are too expensive, you rarely see any Go-Karts no more, there used to be some but seems either they charged too expensive or typical Malaysians just not interested but in many countries they are affordable you can even buy your own karts. If a Gokart circuit is still too expensive, can always ride dirt bikes in the Forests.

Beaches, Malaysia full of beaches, yet there's only a handful of beaches that actually suits beach activities like Penang & Sabah/Sarawak, places like JB has a good beach location yet it's designed for Look Sea only and the closest beach Johoreans have is Sentosa beach. In US almost any states along the seaside will have a proper beach for outdoor activities, malaysia have to pay & go to Sunway Lagoon or Desa Water Park...

Fishing, fishing ponds near non-existence now, used to be a cheap & peaceful way to pass time. now you have to drive to Kuala Selangor or somewhere remote, or be hardcore & rent a boat and go into the swamp areas, still possible but need to be hardcore enthusiasts.

Cycling, a very common sports, but cycle lane is no where to be seen here. There's no place dedicated for cyclists like Singapore has. Even Langkawi which hosts Tour de Langkawi don't really have much cycling activity when there's no Tour de Langkawi.

Then we don't need to talk about other more expensive stuffs like yatching, horse riding, water jet packing, you may be able to find them in Penang & tourist hotspots which is 500km away..

these just few examples. even though some exists, they don't last long due to lack of support from locals, lack of tourism in major parts of Malaysia, and expensive price that people rather do the same thing over & over like shopping. but not bored meh? weekend even you have car also don't know where to drive to, drive all the way to Genting/Kuala Selangor also just to eat/gamble, drive to Seremban nothing to do, down to Melaka also eat only since most tourist place you usually go 1 or 2 times at most, even up to Penang, just Gurney Drive & eat & go to temple. even temple malaysia only got so many to visit. they should really make unique Mosques so it can become a tourist attraction like how people keep visiting temples after temples in China & Japan.

I think Putrajaya actually has lots of potential to become the weekend escape for KL people. It has the land, road & facilities to support, well until one day Putrajaya becomes overcrowded. Even if there's already one, most people probably never heard about it just like other White elephants.

But I'm guessing Malaysians so used to the hot weather they couldn't be bothered doing outdoor activities. But why is Sinkie different?

The problem is when something new comes up, they always ask for skyhigh price, it becomes not-so affordable and less people go, they lose money, close shop and people call it a day for that type of activity because they see how previous business tried & failed.

already mentioned in the Clubs organizing events in public road.

you rarely see road racers endangering other road users in countries where people can race in circuits on weekends. they do still race in public road but they pay more attention to other road users.

yea you need to join the clubs since it's not open to public, and because there's so few tracks & so few events when it's open to public the track ends up like KL traffic.

in other countries you don't need a raceclub, since the tracks will have noticeboards and you just need to drive 50km to the tracks.

if you have the heart, nothing can stop you, but i'm talking about availability to general public. inside players will know all the stuffs & schedules but you can only attract so many people by having a closed loop & requiring exclusivity.

lots of people buy Hypertune magazines, but how many actually tracks?

there are many hardcore fishing folks that would go into the swamp to catch big fish, but this is something normal people won't do.

if i'm hardcore enough if Malaysia doesn't have a skiing facility i'd build one, nothing stopping me right? but we talk about something that could have been easily accessible, like a proper beach?

Because it's expensive la.

Fishing pond- near rm 100 for first few hour for one person. Bait need to buy from them. Fish need to release back.

Cycling- A decent bicycle is few k liao. For that price might as well get motorbikes and rempit.

Paintball- Mcb for the price of each session might as well go cc and play fps.

Now for 20k ktard we might not feel the pinch of spending these money every weekend, but for those lower middle class people I can't blame them for gushing down Starbucks in Shopping centers because they are comparably cheaper than most activities you mentioned.

i did mention the high price in my post. i'm not sure it's because the high operating cost or they just plain greedy or lazy like those KLCC Taxis.

i mean they charge expensive, people will go when it's new, but less & less people will go because the high price is not worth it, they end up having few business, some continue, some close shop, i might suspect because their funds come from "Easy Money" or the outpost used as money laundering they are lazy to entertain customers as such they charge higher price to deter customers, and those that want to play pay more.

i mean if they charged lower, they will have lower profit but the facilities will be more fully utilized as such they probably end up making more money.

for cycling, Singapore has a big area where there's a bike rental facility every 500m, but i'm sure in Malaysia they will just ride it off without returning. A normal bike don't need few ks. those are competitive.

but you can choose:

1.Beach Volleyball
2.Boat Skiing
3.Sunbath
4.Build Sand Castle
5.jetskii
6.chilling out
7.baywatch

you are bored because Singapore has limited land, they can only offer you so much, but malaysia so big, yet so little things.

plenty of activities to do in Malaysia, just a matter of taking initiative to plan for such activities. take for example the above activities, with exception of 2 & 5, you can just go to any beach, and there's plenty beaches here from lousy beach to beautiful ones.

ppl just find it convenient to hang out in shopping mall.
