Dxomark rank Xperia Performance as top dog

Xperia X should be similar.

I only hope for one thing though - eliminate the oil painting artifacts

Dynamic range those are better than previous generation.

Any owner of XA can share the battery life experience of the phone? Seems most review that I've found online said it was 'worst' and not just 'bad'. Thx

I currently using Xperia Z3, which I upgraded from Z1.
My 1st criteria of choosing a smartphone is the camera, because smartphone is my daily camera beside my other Sony camera like A7, A6000 and RX100iii

So now I wonder which should my next smartphone be? Xperia Z5 or Galaxy S7....
because so many review have gave the camera on Z5 very bad comment!!

Is it? Z5 camera shouldn't be an issue for experienced camera user. By using proper settings, you can keep the ISO low, to maintain the dynamic range and noise. biggrin.gif

In daylight, the detail level is as good as RX100 III. For night, you can switch to downsampled 8MP to maintain the pixel quality.

Here's daylight comparison.

The Z5 is a good phone camera only if correct settings are used but most smartphone users won't have the time tinkering the settings, so they won't go full manual all the time, unlike us. laugh.gif

But, I appreciate Sony's effort in manual scene choices. The results turn out to be much more pleasant than auto mode. Despite the aggressive noise reduction and sharpening algorithm, the colors at least does not off white balance and has better dynamic range. The link below to the sample photo taken with one of Sony's scene mode.

Auto mode is good enough for daylight. Dark places need night scene / handheld twilight.
For the colour / contrast / brightness stuff, those can be post processed to fit one's taste.
