not sure is this useful. I have been depositing my eFD in Maybank GIA to earn higher interest for 1m (RM5k)/ 2m (RM1k onwards but below RM5k). The indicative interest rate is 4% monthly but it could fluctuate depending on the return on investment. I have several GIA FD with Maybank deposited in Jan 2016 and got 3.39% for the first month interest. If this info is useful, I can post my subsequent interest rate every mth. I find this convenient and no need to look for promo (due to high min amt required for fd promo, usually starting from RM10k) because I do it monthly (extra funds all go to FD). This interest rate is higher than any of all the existing bank that offers for 1m & 2m interest rate.

Indicative is 4%, but they give you 3.39% instead? Anyway it's still better than Islamic eFD.

Hi guys!
Got a small question, I got some extra funds parked at SG account. Thinking to put in Malaysia FD since it offers better rates, as I needed the money in next year perhaps.

How does the process of opening a FD account?
Do I need to carry let's say 30k cash to the bank? because I don't have an existing account for let's say RHB.

I'm thinking to put into PublicBank, since I had an account there. So the procedure is to transfer funds to my SA first, then I visit the branch to open a FD?

Thanks!

Late last month, I would have been happy to trade with you and both of us would have a win-win situation, but now I don't have spare funds. Maybe you can find someone else to trade, and of course, very importantly, there must be trust.

For those who complained about bsn, I would like to share that I just found a branch at pertama complex. Took me 10min to find the branch in the complex. However, my withdrawal transaction took just 5 min.

There was only 1 other customer.

And I'm not sure it's with mentioning that the tellers are chatty, friendly.

Just came back from UOB Puchong. Placed 12 months @ 4.5%pa.

Then went to OCBC to withdraw a matured FD. Took 40 minutes just to conclude an FD withdrawal. I do not understand why I have to go through Personal Banking counters, before proceeding to the normal transaction counter to collect. I blew my top when after waiting for close to half hour, someone who just came in, took a number and immediately his number was called. I went to the girl who was issuing number and asked "Why I do have to wait for a personal banker just to conduct an FD withdrawal?". Straight away she went to a guy colleague who then went to a counter to call my number. WTF service is this. I can't wait to have all my FDs matured in OCBC before withdrawing.  mad.gif

I think they are trying to convert you to premier banking or trying to sell you something. Must be a big sum you were withdrawing?

Not enough for PB ..  biggrin.gif

UOB only took me 3 mins from the point of me entering the bank till I walked out. Impressed it took that fast or unimpressed that they have so little customer. Depends on which side of the coin some like to look at.

This brings me a point where I don't understand why banks are still insisting on counter fd while the technology is there for efd? This counter ransactions overhead is probably lose-lose for both parties.

If going to uob and you don't hv existing fd account, you to queue at customer service instead of counter. Expect more ppl as the promo is ending soon.

Isn't all banks are like that? Go customer service counter, take no, then wait your turn and then go to the counter? hmm.gif Of course priority banking different story. laugh.gif
It was in his blog. You don't need to transfer money out. Just sign some forms. You get 4.1% instead of the 4.2%

No, hlb mv.....just press for no, upstairs to counter, 10 min, done.
