The information that I received from Xclusive call center is different. Once I meet the FD amount req, I have to call them up and they will then courier the membership card and any gift-of-the-month to my address. this month happens to be a mug. in other words, not dealing with the branch at all.

And yes, can combine joint accounts as long as your name is there.

My SCB BSA also free instant transfer. My SCB matures today too and just did instant transfer for one, while have to go to counter to uplift for another cert. Once today is completed, will just left one more cert with SCB and then goodbye for good.

Yes, have been pulling out from SCB for last few months. Have to cancel their PB to avoid the RM100 monthly fees !

They have no new FD promo unlike last year, one of the best, if not the best, at that time 4.5%.  biggrin.gif
*
Personally, I will not return to SCB even if they give 5.0% Am already at points of no return. My branch is full of deceit and even their CS from HQ dare to deceive Bank Negara. Luckily I now have their admittance of wrongdoing in black and white. I will clear out all FD and close my CASA before taking action.

But the OTC RENTAS is not really immediate, I think the guy was sitting on it & not entering into the system as I didn't see him type anything except filling in my form, maybe 2-3 hours later only got it.
When I did rentas last week, I was initially informed 2-3 hours too. I told the teller to make it under 1 hour and true enough, it reached the account within 1 hour. So means it can be done.

One more thing about nego rate. 50k can start nego though 100k will have better chance. For 5 yrs, we could try to ask for 4.7% or 4.8%. I think guy3288 may be interested in this.  biggrin.gif
*
Yup, someone mentioned previously that can nego for:
(1) FD amount RM 50K and above: extra 0.05%
(2) FD amount RM 100K and above: extra 0.10% (maximum)

I am using this number as a guidance biggrin.gif

Haha maybe time has changed and BR upped their game. I am hoping they will have another round of promotion in May/June. I will be happy if they can offer 4.3 for 12m at least.

Question regarding ocbc 15month fd. It's not mentioned anywhere that I need a savings account. However I rmb reading in here that for fd above 12 months, i'm receiving interest every 6months. So, I do need a savings acct with them?
*
If you want the interest to be credited in, you need to get a CASA. However, you can still make the placement without CASA. The interest for every 6 months will be shown at your FD account (OCBC portal). I didn't ask whether can withdraw directly as cash or not.

i'm a bit confused now because t&c stated (re-read the t&c)...
*
If the t&c said so, then it will be given at the end of maturity period. For previous promo, i can view the interest at the FD account. For this current promo, mine didnt reach 6 months yet.

Yesterday in BR to renew FD to 1 yr 4.28%.

They are going to have a new promo starting 2/5/2016 for 1 yr 4.3% min 25k.

Asked about the gold coin. It is 24k plated, weight 50g, commercial value unknown. Anyway it is a nice looking gold coin ! thumbup.gif

Just nice. My wish for a new promo has come true biggrin.gif

Friends, I have a n00b question.

I've never placed "fresh funds" from other banks before and I'd like to know what's the cheapest way to do it without having to carry a bag load of cash into the bank.

Doing a banker's cheque will cost some money so I try to avoid that. Based on my experience with IBG, it has to be from one account to another right? What if I want to take up an FD promo from Bank A and I want to transfer the money from the savings account from Bank B... How does it work then?

Advice much appreciated.
*
Hi, banker's cheque cost is still low..highest that I know is CIMB..less than RM6(?), someone need to give an accurate figure.

As for IBG, just the normal way and more convenient if you have accounts in both banks. You IBG your money from account Bank B to account bank A. You go to Bank A, tell them you want to place FD from the money in your account. Do note that banks have certain period to conside it as fresh fund. For UOB and OCBC, it is 7 days.

I'm using CIMB. The banker's cheque costs RM6+ before GST. That's already a chunk of the interest I'm going to earn from FD. But if banker's cheque is still the best option then I may just go for it.
*
Hi, yes you require a saving/current account for IBG to work. In this case, banker's cheque (BC) is still the best option.

Do you have any other saving/current account with UOB/OCBC?

I do actually, can we get the promo rate at renewal or they require some top up?

I did placement on 21-Jan-16 & was told by my Relationship Manager that the luggage bag offer already out-of-stock.
Out of the blue, I received a couriered Condotti 20 trolley bag on 31-Mar-16!! Real surprised ;-)
Thanks for the feedback, let's see whether I receive any in weeks to come.

Went for UOB 12 mth 4.3%. At 3pm, the traffic at that branch was even queuing out into the main road (a bungalow) !  doh.gif Is it because UOB is one of the few banks giving 4.3% for 1 year ?  biggrin.gif
*
Oh lucky you mention this. I will keep in mind to put longer hours for the parking coupon when I go to UOB on Thursday. Too bad it is for uplifting rather than placement, cannot go for the 4.3% rate.

Some questions on BR:
1. If there is an existing joint FD with BR, can I make a placement for another joint cert without the presence of the joint cert holder?
QUOTE(bbgoat @ Apr 9 2016, 11:10 AM)
1. Yes.
I just received a reply from BR Facebook on this same question and the answer is, need to bring the the joint holder along as both need to sign the cert. Is it you have a different privilege as Xlusive member? hmm.gif

I don't think it has to do with Xclusive member. It was at least 2 years ago when I did that with the joint acct. After that all new placements are single name. But the joint acct is either or signature. Is yours either or OR both must sign for withdrawal ?

Oh, I think it is sign the form, not the cert.
*
Either one to sign.

May I know what form is that? I seldom go to BR so cant recall the procedure.
