For display / video there is no difference. For audio if your HDMI cable is very long like 10 meters for example than quality of cable does make a different

QUOTE(KerenggaGoreng @ Feb 11 2016, 11:03 AM) See below... Essentially, find out the hardware version that your TV can handle.. Buy a reasonably priced high speed cable (with or without Ethernet, some devices require it, others dont).. No need to buy an expensive overhyped cable. Try passing 4K or 3D signals or full res 4K+3D signals through a standard speed cable or any version lower than 1.4.. See how that works.. A High speed HDMI cable is required. Be careful though as not all cables labeled as "high speed" are actually high speed cables.. Then there's HDR which is supported from version 2.0a. |

Yes you are right on the video requirement but what I mean is for video any brand of HDMI does not make any differentNot entirely true.... Cable brand not be much different. For a RM 200 HDMI 1.4 cable vs a RM 30 HDMI 1.4 cable, i will go for RM 30.
Unless going for super duper long cables like 25ft. This post has been edited by weikee: Feb 13 2016, 05:08 PM |

I want to warn everyone that those rm20 or less HDMI cables cannot actually send 4k at 4:4:4 60fps. I've tested like 12, all from different brands (though their OEM is most probably the same), none of them could despite being labeled HDMI 2.0. Lulz..

Hdmi 2.0 so new in the market, don't think the cable is cheap, wait bit longer. For anyone that don't need 2.0, 1.4 or 1.3 is good enough and is not expensive. |

That's why I'm warning people. On Monoprice or Amazon, a HDMI 2.0 cable is only 2 dollars more (generally) than a HDMI 1.4 cable. Only in this cut-throat market of malaysia where a drop-in spec replacement is priced triple the price of the previous spec. Go figure. *and no, HDMI 2.0 is not "so new" lol. It's been out for over a year. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Feb 14 2016, 10:29 PM |

A product should do what it says is if labeled as so. A HDMI 2.0 cable should be a 2.0 cable, not 1.4 or whatever just because a very small minority uses it now.So for those who actually has a 4k TV that does proper 4:4:4 at 60hz should be forced to pay a premium then? No logic there man. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Feb 15 2016, 02:47 PM |

QUOTE(BOTAK_WAI @ Feb 22 2016, 11:01 PM) The problem with bad quality hdmi or any cables isn't about just lost signal intermittent signal. It can potentially fried your display devices over the time unknowingly. Leading users to be conceived that it's a brand issue. No doubt, it can definitely throw at all the resolution u wanted it to perform on your LCD . I'm talking about how fast your LCD died out in just mere 1-3 years randomly. And this happens across all price range of cables that came from Taobao. Not to mention shopee sellers source from taobao as well. There's no quality control over the cables. As according to china's manufacturer standard, as long as the cable able to output high resolution according to top specs, it's a premium quality. Whatever damage that can potentially damage the device is not a concern to these cable manufacturers in china. You can't possibly tell or know how these cables dmg your devices over time. Which is why i'm checking into here to see if anyone had any brands that's reliable. Yes i'm aware that most cables are from taobao. Though there are some that do have strict QC control over their product. Paying RM100 over for a hdmi or displayport that's only 3m is just a ripped off in my point of view. |
