See below... Essentially, find out the hardware version that your TV can handle.. Buy a reasonably priced high speed cable (with or without Ethernet, some devices require it, others dont).. No need to buy an expensive overhyped cable.

Not entirely true.... Try passing 4K or 3D signals or full res 4K+3D signals through a standard speed cable or any version lower than 1.4.. See how that works.. A High speed HDMI cable is required. Be careful though as not all cables labeled as "high speed" are actually high speed cables.. Then there's HDR which is supported from version 2.0a.
