If HM brings in this part under AFTA from Thailand, the taxes should not hit 30%.  Either ways, I will pay the few hundred bucks more for the original quality Honda part vs. the stickered look.

Let's hope they bring it in then biggrin.gif

I would rather wait until 3-6 months time because Thailand reported some technical issues which havent really solved out yet. Especially engine heat is quite worried people.

According to Honda Malaysia, it's an isolated case.

So far in US, there isn't any reports of major issues so far. Fairly certain if got big issue, there would be news about it already

Hahaha HRV engine piston break got more than a dozen confirmed case they honda malaysia got tell you isolated? Oh no. They actually tried to cover up!

I have a FB1.8. Same R18a series engine, in fact, many other Civic owners never report of any piston breakage issue, maybe except 1 case whereby the pistons and conrod everything all break.

If the engine problem was widespread, it would have been commonly discussed online and in facebook.

i say hrv you say civic. gearbox not same. rim tyre not same.

honda owners are too proud to admit problem. just ask those aftersales or honda malaysia staffs la.

Not proud or not proud. Just trying to analyze the problem in detail because both engines for both models are the same.

The biggest difference is the transmission.

CVT vs 5AT. CVT keeps the power in its optimal power zone, would that be a reason? If so, then the hybrid Civic 1.5L engine would have problems, which we till today don't hear about. It's plausible but I don't find it likely.

Until we can diagnose the problem outside, I am more willing to believe it's a batch part manufacturing problem for the engine. That usually don't happen but stranger things have happened in the past.

And.... Rims and tires won't affect the engine la, why do you bring that up? lol
