here you go guys, after seeing so many wuestions bout which tim was beter , i took the time today to do a litle test between two of the best tim around.

AS5 and Artic silver ceramique. if u want to know bout htem , google was invenmted for a reason.too lazy to type bout them as many of yu would aleadi know bout them di...lol... whistling.gif whistling.gif

neway i such at word so heres the results... have funn...any questions can ask me...

the fans used are all panaflows ,http://www.2cooltek.com/Panasonic-Panaflo-FBA12G12H1A-120-x-38mm-Fan-p-22.html i went and bough 10 of these for use all round my pc

ceramique results...

dun flame me yeah , im still anoob at reviews and tests

and one last thing, the thing bout the way to apply tim, i did a little experiment, if u use therice grain method compare to the cover the whole proc with tim, u only get one degree of difference, but the tim is wasted, coz u need alot if u want to cover the proc and most of it overflowed to the edges and over to the mobo...

so the conclusion of your review is AS5 is better and the rice method is the best though cover all surface can bring one 'c but wasted alot of tim and probably overflow. right?

Hey, how long did you test the Arctic Silver 5?
Did u wait for it's "sink in" time? [about 200 hours] blink.gif

arrrggghhh, who cares, the purpose of this review to see which is the best between silver & ceramique, not to see how low it can get...

anyway, just curious, did u test it for 200 hours sweat.gif

well AFAIK the rice grain method is safer than u spread the thermalpaste all over the proc ihs as it might make it worst and waste a lot of them.... yawn.gif

Well, cause the results might be different if the TIM is properly sink in though..

Does the Ceramique also need 200 hours to sink in?

yes, the result might be different if the TIM is properly sink in, but this review is to see which is best... let say lolhalol didn't sink it in 200 hours, the silver still wins, & if it's sinked in, silver still wins but with lower temps tongue.gif

so, what's the point seeing how low it can get? as different system will have different result... hands.gif unless u have the same system with lolhalol... rclxms.gif

If for proc without IHS, that mean bare chip...are rice grain method suitable to uses? or need to apply a thin layer on the chip there?

p/s: I have ask same question in the thermal interface material thread, if anyone already aswer me there, no need to answer here again. Thanks. biggrin.gif

heeh no lah i didnt sink in 200 hours... too long lah... this i did in wan day.... load was primed for 20 mins,. idle left alone for 20 mins.... neway im leting the as5 on the hr-01 sink in now, so we will c how lah... yeah the rice grain method is beter as i experienced overflow of tim, and u waster banyak......

@kataro, if bare naked chip, then i suggest u use a ver very small drop of as5 even smaller than as5 because if the tim touch any of the contact pins, kau kau...

Yes, i do agree on this. The AS5 is definitely very very impressive indeed but the ceramique wasnt that bad either..

to reply e-joy and akachester at on go , yes the as5 performes very well, and also even u have the exact system as me, down to the same producton week, i doubt u can reproduce my temps, coz different ambient di, yeah ceramique performes very well, definately best budget tim around, now just waiting where to get the chill factor, neway right now, after 24 hours sink in, my temps drop another dergree aledi, from as5.

I believe the AS5 should be let to bed in for 200 hours as you'd see better temps as my Storm G4 setup for both my AXP Mobile and S754 2800+ clocked or unclocked showed a 2C dfffirence between load and idle

mean use even smaller drop than suggested by AS?

last saturday, I put a little drop of AS ceramic on my proc and I can found 1C drop on my proc temp during Idle (OCed to 1.34GHz from 1.2GHz)...just off PC yesterday night since last saturday after reading that need to on and off for the TIM to sink. Maybe I will apply AS5 after Chrismas as I just get my AS5 from moderno on Wednesday... hopefully can drop more C... drool.gif
