I'll wait patiently for my weekly dose of GoT on release day
leaked script/episodes or not, dun wan see, dun wan know and dun wan care
IMO those leaks spoil the weekly anticipation

Now I'm just hoping that GRRM fat old fart won't kick the bucket before he complete the remaining 2 books
*
By the time Sunday/Monday rolls by, all that's left are ashes, just like what's left on the Field of Fire in episode 4. People moved on quickly to the next one in the age of social media, and unless you mingle with friends who collectively can ignore all the onslaught of spoilers on social media, it'll be tough to avoid spoilers completely. Even titles on YouTube or screenshots are shared openly now. And its another 4 days to scheduled airtime.

Grab a pristine 1080p copy online, do your viewing party just like how you do it normally on Mondays. No different what? You only moved it a few days earlier. It's not like the screening time here in Malaysia being Sunday primetime 8pm, it's on Monday working day, at 10am, and unless you're collectively not working with your friends on a weekday Monday, you're gonna be watching it on Monday evening anyway. This isn't a blurry copy with timestamps like the leaked episode 4, this is a 1080p copy leaked by HBO themselves. It doesn't get any more legit than this.

It's also GRRM's fault for all this fevered anticipation with people gorging themselves on leaks: the fat f***er refuses to finish his two books and instead pass that torch to the two screenwriters of the show to do it. If he had finished the two books, the readers of the books who also watches the show, wont be so bothered looking for scraps of information about the series, and as far as and new information is concerned, the show is the only outlet where followers of the saga can get more info.....because the fat f***er refuse to finish the two books. They have nowhere to turn to but the show itself, and any legitimate and canonical source of information of the story (book readers or show followers), people will devour it like hungry starving men.

TL;DR: Fat f***er lazy finish the books, the show is the only source left, leaks makes people go crazy as it's the only source left.....because fat f***er refuse to finish the books.

Old games though. But at least Nintendo's willing to grow up and not stuck in family-friendly zone.

Inb4 "it's Doom and Wolfenstein II" Chibi edition. If that's the final plot twist, just slit my throat already. I don't wanna live.

Wolfenstein II is old? You must be from the future biggrin.gif Chibi style is there on all platforms. Just ask Square Enix. And nothing is wrong with being family-friendly. That's what sets them apart from the others.
*
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/09/nint...-wolfenstein-2/

And I quote from the article: "Doom launches "this winter," while The New Colossus will arrive at some point in 2018, a good deal later than the game's October 27 launch on other platforms."

For a single player adventure shooter, "a good deal later" will make it old, unless there's an online element involved that will make it fresh. "Uncharted Lost Legacy" is already old to me, coz I've finished it and I don't feel compelled to replay it again.

There's nothing wrong with being family-friendly. But being family-friendly ONLY and EXCLUSIVELY is what sets them apart from the other two platforms (Sony and Microsoft) all this while and put them in the current predicament. If they're happy with being family-friendly, they wouldn't be courting Bethesda for Doom, Wolfenstein II or Skyrim, would they? Nintendo finally grew up and realized that they cannot live in their own "family-friendly only" bubble because they've tapped out the potential of "family-friendly" audience, and branching out to try to pull in the bigger percentage of other audience whose not interested in their platform, especially if they're toying around only with Chibi style content.

You're paying for that "exclusive" blurrier filter as well, bro.... not just the portable mayhem. tongue.gif

Gonna turn DOWN my Doom PC version to see if I can stomach 720p 30fps before I even begin considering a purchase. No mention of the game ever hitting 60fps, and Doom without 60fps loses its identity.

Happening as I type this right now, NeoGAF imploding and going down in flames right as this post is posted. Every single wrongdoing, sleazy practices including biasness of the moderators and admins exposed right to the very littlest details. "Airing dirty laundry" left and right, and #NeoGAF was trending at Top 10 on Twitter a while ago if your Twitter was set to the US region.

https://nickmonroe.blog/2017/04/12/neogafs-...-in-moderation/

I can see similar traits, although in smaller scales here in this forum as well. EDIT: not specifically this section, but hints of it everywhere else with people drunk with moderating powers. It's the power of the people, you can slap a ban or a warning unjustly, and/or delete or cover it up, but the truth will out someday. And in the case of NeoGAF, imploding in such spectacular way LOL!

The behaviour of the moderation and admin teams, sounds eerily similar.

"We are GOD, never question our authority!", "Never go against the grain, never go against our chosen/preferred sentiment, never go against the mob mentality!"

Or this one, warning, it's a bit long:

All happening in the span of less than 5 hours. WOW!

Basically post only the right things, the right way, don't go against mods who practice their moderating duties in total biasness. Mods, admins are always right. They have the final say, they are Gods.

The term "echochamber" and "hugbox" have been thrown around a lot when describing NeoGAF. Certain sections of LYN also applies to these terms, "echochamber" and "hugbox".

Inb4 what is an echochamber or a hugbox.

QUOTE
hugbox
A hugbox is a derogatory term for an environment, usually on the internet, in which a group with similar interests gathers to discuss topics in what they intend to be a safe, comforting, and confrontation-free environment.

What they intend to be a "safe space" almost always turns into a circle-jerk of forced consensus and ends with every member repeatedly expressing the exact same opinion to each other, no matter the topic. Since the community is founded on unconditional love and support no matter how much of a tool a person is, these communities tend to attract tools and rational and useful advice is usually a rarity.

Moderators of these groups are usually extremely militant and do not tolerate even the slightest dissenting opinion. Members of these groups are usually so hypersensitive that the moment a contrary opinion appears the entire community explodes in a total drama shitstorm.
Sounds like certain sections of the forum in LYN.

QUOTE
echo chamber
A place free of serious debate where everyone repeats the same opinions, no one calls anyone else out, and criticism is frowned upon.
Those two terms perfectly describes certain forums, Facebook groups and Discord channels, where everything and everyone must agree 100% on how things are run, discuss, talked, mentioned, and no alternative opinions are allowed. Sounds like North Korea to me.

All the dirty laundry is in there. Neatly linked and screenshot before they deleted it, proofs gathered using Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

Final moment of NeoGAF before it went down.

Reddit, GameFaqs ......even the /v section in 4Chan are still considered alt-right than the far leftist horde and the horrible moderator/admin team in NeoGAF.

Don't get me wrong, the gaming section in NeoGAF can be enjoyable and informative........before any of the toxic moderator teams and the horde they cultivate poisons it with their bullshit.

The case with NeoGAF isn't as "regular" as other gaming forums, as it's grown to become a toxic cesspool, a breeding ground for SJWs and far leftist degenerates. And with its past history of being touted as the source for insider news (leaks and breaking news about games breaks there first than anywhere else), people who don't know how that gaming forum is managed, who manages it and what kind of mentality it was managed as, will come to think that is how a "gamer" is supposed to act, behave or form their opinions around. That is why although gaming forums comes and goes (I used to write game reviews for GameFAQs before it turns into shit that it is now), NeoGAF (or its previous name, the "Gaming-Age Forum" before it was mismanaged as well) stands in the unique position and example as how NOT to manage a forum, from its heady days of being the premier hangout of game devs, studio heads and gamers, to its last few days ago of power-hungry moderators, leftist administrators, or it "you're one of us , you must think like us or you're against us" mentality of the horde that those moderators and administrators has cultivated. It's the classic example of those terms I mentioned earlier, an "echo chamber" or a "hugbox". "We only allow certain kinds of talk here, anything else, we silence you". That is not the definition of a "forum", where one's differing opinion is encouraged or welcomed to promote forward thinking and healthy debate.

Hence why you see these how less and less participation in a forum and more and more of these "echo chambers" and "hugbox" have migrated into the forms of Facebook groups and Discord channels, ........ yes, it's a place for "like-minded" people to congregate, but it also encourages narrow-minded thinking and discourages opinions outside of the box. I know, because I've been to some of these FB groups and Discord channels, and the tunnel-visioning in those places are even more severe than NeoGAF, only thing is...., it's less public, less visible than a public forum like NeoGAF. And that's what makes it even more dangerous than NeoGAF, because anyone with a silver tongue can rally the crowd in these groups and channels into a cause that may just be for his/their personal gain, but a detriment/danger to the rest of the general public. Birth of "video game terrorist" groups.

That normally happens when everyone can join in. If only select few only knows about it, or it's an inside news/joke that only a few people only can engage in? Not so much.

That said, no golden days. They're all in their respective FB groups and Discord channels already. Too late to change that.

"ex-NeoGAF moderators and a section of the community" coming back as ResetERA.com.

Also, neogaf.com now no longer 404-ing, loads into a maintenance page.

*makes a weighing motion* Hmmmmmm, which one is the lesser evil, ResetERA with possibly the same leftist mentality crowd or the new NeoGAF.com with potential for a fresh start but zero traffic? tongue.gif

Addendum: there were attempts to restart at a new forum called geonaf.com, but that site immediately went down right after, LOL!
