Proton Persona SV 1.6 2015 / 2016

Hi guys, I am looking to buy my first new car and my budget is just RM55K. I am looking for a low maintenance car to travel to work, something that I can afford to pay monthly also. I have been browsing for cars and currently Proton Persona SV 1.6 seems most reasonable for my budget, plus I am looking for a sedan.

My worries, is Persona SV 1.6 a reliable car? Sometimes I see a very good review and sometimes I see a bad review and also very bad reviews about Persona in general. Some shared their problems with Person within only a few months of purchase, there is also a complain on fuel consumption.

I do not want to get the Persona SV 1.6 and suffer financially. Then it would truly be pointless leaving me to feel cheated.

Please advise and if you have any other cars to recommend within the budget of RM55k please do so. Thank you very much for your time. smile.gif

Brand new is almost RM90K, do you mean second hand? I am worried about the reliability of second hand cars and I am looking to buy a brand new car. Thank you for the reply.

1st car i would recommend a used car.

to give you an idea on what you can get, go mudah and search for car with the criteria:

type-sedan
condition-used
price 50-60k
year 2013-2015
private seller

The engine + gearbox is old but reliable. What you will need to worry is the fit and finish, especially leaky doors and windscreen.

If you have any technical questions in particular, you can ask at the Persona owner's car club thread in the car clubs section.

New Persona is coming out soon. Based on current Proton Iriz, so basically elongated Iriz with boot. More safety features, stronger body and better engine (based on Iriz).

So if you're really planning to buy Persona instead of other car, just wait a little bit longer. 2nd quarter perhaps the launch date is.

You are right, I just find that the SAGA FLX seems a little bit smaller than Persona? Correct me if I am wrong, but will definitely check it out. Thank you for the reply.

You are right but could it be more expensive? I must say I do admire the exterior of Persona, especially with an R3 bodykit. However, I am just worried about its reliability.

I own one Persona SV , purchased on October 2014 . So far the car is good . Great stability and power on highway . However , the fc is not so good compared to newer generation car . I personally think it worth the price . So far my ride doesn't have problem yet . Maintenance is cheap . The downside it are no new technology gadget in the car and the rear seats are abit too short.

1st car..better get new but cheap car. not all people are well versed with car maintenance..especially used unit. better go for new car with warranty..persona sv is a good choice for entry level sedan (besides saga flx).

if budget ok, persona.. else go for saga, smaller and less powerful... overall almost the same to me.... proton mostly will have a new lineup of cars in the near future, JV with suzuki... so sure got alot of new cars, then 2017 + - new GDI engines no more campro.

if u can accept hatchback, myvi seems even lower maintainance becoz they are using timing chain not timing belt. alza FC im not sure, looks good to me too. im still driving my 6 years old saga. FC full tank around 28 litter, 300km +- . monday to friday stuck at traffic for 2~3 hours daily.

I own a 2011 persona. The fuel consumption is around 7-9km/ liter (it is quite high compare to other car).

I'm just coming back, being a back passenger inside a persona year 2007.

Back seat can't support my head, I'm quite tall. Power window motor problem doh.gif said got warranty end up SC charge RM300+

Double check with SA or On9 for power window lifetime warranty and other warranty for this car.

I know one friend buying Persona SV 2014 but not get in touch with. Rarely coffee break together due to work
