Just like Apple 6s and Apple 6s Plus. both got their individual customers.
a smaller Note with flagship design and latest spec should be able to attract new customers, i myself will be 1 of them.
*
your theory is same like samsung introduce s6 edge plus
perhaps it depends on the cost and profits,if less profits then no point doing that

How long u using ur Note 5? Impossible only 1-2% drop overnight. Samsung phones battery degrade very fast.

My note 5 now easily drops 10-15% overnight without even touching the phone. Been using for 5 mths now.

When new thay time didnt drop so much. But now drop alot .
*
i've been using note 5 for about 4 months, will only drop 8-10% without wifi on
i even tried turning on mobile data for whole night about 8 hours and it only drops about 8%-10%

For those who said that battery drain alot during night time is actually very subjective.

Why did i say so? There will be 2 scenario.

Scenario 1 my own Note 5.

Basically my own phone drop battery around 1 to 2% over the whole night where normally i sleep 6 to 8 hours.

How do i preserve this constant drop percentage?

Before sleep, normally i will pick up my phone and press the multitask button and close all applications. Thus i will go to smart manager app to press the clean all button and then only let the phone sleep.

Thus for Note 5 battery don`t always cultivate the habit of charging even the battery % is still high. Use until left 15% and below only charge. Sometimes i use until left 3 to 5% then only charge.

My phone is already 4 month old and according to the Samsung Phone Info Software so far i only charged my phone 129 times.

Scenario 2 other people Note 5.

Basically if the battery drop fast over night got many possibilities.

1. Battery it self got issue.
2. Motherboard leak battery.
3. Where Software Application runs alot in background.

+++ Many others reason where contributed to the possibilities.

Last but not least, i wont say that my perception is 100% true. Generally how battery % drop is decided by how user use their own phone. These subject of battery reduction over time is very very subjective where no body could measure how, why and when.

None the less, my SOT time i always get in between 4.30 hours to 5.30 hours depends on how i toggle with the brightness and how often i use mobile data and GPS / Location.

A gentle reminder. If you think that the battery drop unusual, please monitor it a few more time. If and only if it happen constantly then send your phone to Samsung SC they can help to check because Technician will always have their own sets of method.

Cheers icon_rolleyes.gif  laugh.gif

agree with you,if close all the apps and clear the ram before sleep thn the phone probably wont drain much battery
but i think most of us wont do that, some of them even telling you that it shouldn't be like this bangwall.gif

The carriers-tied variants are getting M earlier than us. Something wrong man. I really want to know what drag them so long to bring it over here. hmm.gif
*
the carrier in canada which named telus had also delayed their MM update for all galaxy phone
previously it was only delayed till end of march but now delayed till further notice
no reason or notice given,i'm not sure why

Last time when i send in my Note 3 into Samsung SC they said that if phone battery charge more then a limit count then the battery life would deteriorate easily.

Samsung phone battery if i am not mistaken is 500 to 700 times.

Like my Canon DSLR 650D last time battery also kaput then the SC people said charge more then 500 times already of course kaput lo.

It happens to powerbank also, certain powerbank also if change more then 500 times then the battery will kaput easily.

The more you charge the battery the higher the level of usage wear and tear.

Symptoms of battery getting weak is like bloated up, sudden high % of drainage or record state 80% of battery but suddenly the phone shut off and cannot start.
*
i agree with the cycle time for battery
i thought the same reason when my s4 which using for 2 years battery kaput since it drain battery very fast
i keep charging it with power bank andcharger more than twice a day
but even i changed the new battery,it happen to be the same
so i think the battery can normally last few years before kaput

I only use 1 SIM but bought a dual sim phone wasted another slot. Should opt for the single sim version. Normally single sim version get update quite fast.

Like last time Note 4 the N910C get update first now also Note 5 N920C get update first. Dual SIM variant is like waiting forever arghhhhh.

Even i got 2 SIM card but 1 Digi inisde my N5 and 1 Celcom inside my IPad. So basically N5 dual sim but the 2nd slot is not using.
*
same here, doesn't use 2nd sim slot at all, feel like wasted
or maybe the market for dual sim is higher among note user?

Just wondering, how does Note5 compare to Mate 8 to make people switch over?
*
i cant think about others rather than battery life and screen size
no s pen,no amoled screen,no ufs 2.0 storage
even their ui is not so good, there are complaint about their ui especially notifications bar colour which hard to see since it is black
not sure they fixed it or not

Did you factory reset your phone ?

After i update the firmware straight i reset my phone. After set up viola the issue resolve. I use DiGi now smooth rocket smooth.

I said farewell to the Network Freeze issue since that day after update.

If after MM update the issue occur again then i really gonna throw the phone back to Samsung then i jump-ship to LG V10.

If after MM update everything goes smooth like currently no issue nice nice then i will use my N5 for another year wait Next year N7 launch then change.
*
s6 just got their MM update today, sigh bangwall.gif

I checked here gsmarena:
Mate 8 soc is certainly faster than note 5. But not 50% lah:

http://m.gsmarena.com/huawei_mate_8-review-1367p5.php

Besides that; gpu is weaker than note5 and nexus 6p. Luckily it is only 1080p. Speaking of best/fastest soc, nothing beat the sd820 or exynos 8890 in s7/g5/mi5. Cpu and gpu is easily more superior than in mate8 or note5

I do tottaly  agree the mate8 battery is superior.

Note5 data drop off not solved with recently update? I never experience that. Sorry i maybe wrong regarding data/lte issue.
*
Note 5 are using ufs 2.0 storage,as i know mate 8 didnt use that
The difference of reading the data in ufs 2.0 is alot faster than normal
