I can't believe they still keep going up and up...good for you, dare to do it, hehe

Rumor has it that they might list Umobile which is worth about 10 cents to BCorp. Then again now is 0.415, and CEO bought 0.28 (?). If it goes back to 0.28 or below, I might buy big.

Old news but don't know if shared before. Gosh analysts in Malaysia can anyhow valuate without repercussions? 5 sens...

On the new law, actually it would be good if the state and federal govt can spend the money wisely to re-energize the economy. But sadly it will not be that way. No faith in the current administration.

Our PM is really a risk taker who thinks he has nothing to lose, with Agong backing. This is a very risky move, coupled with the fact Agong has said can reopen assembly yet he blatantly ignores without giving an official explanation himself. I think Umno is screwed, I wouldn't be surprise if we don't have election until 2023! Lol. In the minimum delay until Umno has its own party election which must be held by end of this year. I will go in market buy some if tomorrow continues to drop. But only on potential rebound and not because I think the near future is bright.

Just when you thought market is going to be quiet for a while, suddenly boom. Some news and those stocks that look like stagnant suddenly all burst up...

Missed another big time boat for Digi, was hoping for it to drop to 3.5, oh well. I guess stick to plan and have discipline.

I think buy after merger better... although I'm hoping the merger wont go through. Dont kill the competitions...
*
I have wrote about what I thought of digi a while back. In short it is a good company with Telenor tech and management expertise backing. Buy after merger? I doubt so. Firstly I missed the boat, I believe digi price will go up after confirmation. Secondly I have no faith in celcom management. I used to be in the telco field, I know how celcom works and the state of tech currently there. From IT to network, celcom has tons to catch up. Due to the nature of culture and govt influence, I doubt celcom will prove to be good. So definitely I won't be buying after the merger. The potential savings may never come due to bad management, in short term expect expenses to go up due to restructuring and consolidation of systems.

Yes as a consumer it is bad too. So yes I do hope it will not go through. But now seems cast in stone.

Erm... there was a time where I was MNP'ing all over these network like crazy. Honestly, apart from their marketing/management team, I really feel Digi is nothing special. Celcom can consider slightly better (it is quite subjective though). 4G coverage just like Digi, some area fast, some area slow but if play mobile games, Celcom ping is a lot better plus less lag. Maxis no need say la... 4G is good, but 3G totally cannot use (whereas Digi/Celcom 3G still can use). Celcom 2G is awesome if all you need is to make calls.

There was a time (15 years ago maybe) where I followed a friend to do some network setting due to server migration (I guess) in Digi Glenmarie and Subang HiTech. Not sure about their IT department but I think they are lazy as fuck since needed to employ outsider just to do some network setting which they could handled themselves. Maybe they can even teach their staff with a video on how to do it yourself. Also when their staffs do request help outside of our workscope, their response was like what, I requested my IT dept to do these for a long time but was told just live with it. It's so simple. I dont know how much has changed since, but I dont really have a good impression for Digi. They even jammed other telco signal inside their building (wtf). Did had the opportunity to speak with the CEO since my friend and I was doing the network setting for his laptop. Foreigner CEOs they dont LCLY like locals. Very approachable.
*
Just wait till you work with Axiata! lol... Actually for network performance, at least for more central areas, I view both network about the same. Yes Celcom is good for 2G coverage due to past history before their transformation to Celcom now.

just as recent as 2019, both companies announced merger plans ... which was abandoned due to some said 'complexities' ....  do ask Ms.G la....

QUOTE(tehoice @ Apr 8 2021, 02:37 PM)
actually consolidation is bound to happen in the telco industry. if you read and understand more then you will know.
*
Yes on paper consolidation looks good for the numbers. But really depend on the execution, too much political influences... who to retrench etc. Which vendor to use etc... Hope for the best lah. In the meantime the boat has sailed for those who never buy before today. Same goes with Glove stocks. Sometimes you need guts to buy, I don't have it. Tempted to but always thinking it can go down further after the US news to snatch gloves.

Unfortunately as per my last post I did not. Was targeting RM3.5 but never reach again and was deciding on RM3.62. Sad but life goes on...

Speechless... A property company doing investment... Bursa needs to check since TG owner has influencing stake in Tropicana.

I remembered we mentioned we got saved by our public holidays the few times US market went bonkers.

My portfolio in StashAway got hit badly sleep.gif

I think our stock market doesn't move as much with US compared to others due to the fact our market is largely domestic players and not over valued. I am for one waiting for bank stocks to drop but surprisingly it is quite stable and even went up yesterday despite mco 3.0. I think strictor mco or political turmoil affect our market more than US market movement.

Today I was chatting with a Taiwan friend. He said gloves stock in Taiwan very hot now. Makes tons of money this year compared to previous years. Much like our gloves companies. Strange thing is Taiwan stock market not really pricing in the future? Or maybe they think this virus isn't going anywhere soon even though Taiwan having mini outbreak now like 100 to 300 plus new cases per day, compared to us going to 10k!

How is TG listing in HK going? Seems quiet now...

With daily cases over 6k, a mco that people think will not resolve the problem, slow vaccination progress, businesses slowly dying if not already dead, why would folks still think market will go up? Is it because last week's market priced in worse mco measures? How about the fact that our economy is real bad now?

One accounting firm I know, many of their business customers have many tax refunds pending from LHDN. Prepaid xxx but last year's profit tanked.

I wonder if the govt has the means to refund... Much like the gst refund. Not sure when life will be back to normal and can fly again... How AirAsia can survive without govt backing seriously a miracle.

Stocks mostly up, at least those in my watchlist. Amazing, the 2 weeks FMCO extension and the political uncertainty with Agong decision no impact at all. I guess Bursa now at this level more or less stabilized? ie only the local big funds as players now.

More smoke? Or anything that will impact the stock market tomorrow? Assuming UMNO makes an ultimatum and will officially withdraw support, how will the market react?

I still holding TNB at around 9.83. Hoping to go lower so that I can accumulate more. Money sitting at brokerage around 1 month plus already....

The market’s mood is not good

QUOTE(Current Events guy @ Jun 27 2021, 04:39 PM)
Anyone consistently making profits totalling up to more than their monthly or yearly income from a 9 - 5? Any reason keeping you from being a full time trader?

If this isn't the right place to ask, feel free to delete.
*
I am not a full time trader, I can tell you unless you are super brave and dare to cut loss, don't be a full time trader. It will never give you the same stability as a 9-5.

I have a friend who invests in Taiwan stock market (Taiwanese). He is making tons lately because of the boom in stock market there plus the fact he doubles up his capital and profit. Making tons... but ask yourself. Do you have the guts and luck. Mind you he still has a stable high paying job. So to him he can lose all or can hold on for years. The last time I listened to an ex colleague, I actually lost on a 50k USD bet on options. You heard me right, 100% lost on that options play 50k USD. Took me several years to make back and not counting opportunity costs etc. You can imagine the pain I had back then. I never made 50K Usd before and first time play options went super big and lost 50k usd. That time I woke up having difficulty breathing. Thinking about it now makes me sick. I never bet on options or futures ever again.

The reason why I am sharing this is that the market is irrational now. Too much hot money and just like the jackpot game, you never know when or what will cause the crash. If that happens, a lot of us will get stuck especially those with EPF, Unit Trust, ETFs etc. If you want to play, be ready to pay. Those managing ETFs or UT are those so call portfolio managers managing other people's money. Trading with your own hard earned money is another thing all together.

On a separate note, our Finance Manager is hinting the return of i-Sinar (more?) and automatic memorandum (affects bank?). How will this extension of FMCO affects the market tomorrow? I feel like buying some tomorrow if it drops... but don't know if once announcement out will drop further or if any more political play will cause more ripples. ie I don't know when will be the lowest or near lowest point. Bank stocks quite strong lately compared to last year.

Any thoughts?

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Jun 27 2021, 07:17 PM)
The misconception of a good trader is that he/she must trade all the time. Why force a trade when there will be many a times when there is nothing good to trade?
*
He is asking the question of being a full time trader, not being a good trader. When you don't have the luxury of stable income, you will be pressured to make trades to bring in the money. And not many will have the knowledge to know if that trade is good. Even those with extensive knowledge on charts, FA TA whatever will be hit by incidents like SD (potential fraud) or macro events.

FYI my Taiwan friend is very good in charts, always telling me the path is open KD indicates this Brolin path (chinese translation) or whatever. I don't know what he is talking, but he makes money. Even so he is still keeping his stable high paying job. Because he knows his luck will run out eventually.
