That is one of the factors but it is not that simple. Otherwise, everyone here will become instant millionaires. 

If you have the chance, I suggest you get hold of the classic book written in 1960 by Darvas entitled, "How I Made $2 Million in the Stock Market."  You can also google the "Darvas Box Theory".

He analysed for e.g. the volume, momentum and whether the stock is in an industry which is expected to outperform the overall market.

But I must stress again, I am just a beginner. I am just sharing whatever little knowledge I have. Therefore, please take whatever I say with a pinch or bucket of salt.

100% true. It has nothing to do with trading skills or the fundamental of the stocks anymore.

That's why I only trade with money that I can afford to lose. I don't do margin trading.

I re-call the same thing happened after the last GE results came out. Stocks like GKent and MYEG (if I remember correctly) turned blood red.
