When TG RSS hits the limit and shorties can't do anything but to show the white flag and start closing their position. Then TG going to fly to the moon?

QUOTE(statikinetic @ Feb 7 2021, 07:37 PM) In regards to DCA, here is my TLDR personal summary. Why it's a no for stocks?Funds/ETFs - Yes. Gold - Situational Yes. Stocks - Generally No. Crypto - Hahahahaha Everyone heard what Warren Buffett said, buy a stock and hold it for 10 years or 20 years even forever. |

QUOTE(statikinetic @ Feb 7 2021, 10:44 PM) Yes, that is what Buffet said. But majority of people aren't Buffet. I have been asking myself over and over again. The keyword here is....which stocks? This is purely personal opinion. I need to open with this. DCA works for securities & commodities which represent a high probability store of future value. Things that you can be almost sure that will appreciate in value. What are these? Funds, ETFs and anything which tracks an index are very likely to go up hence DCA works here. Gold too, over time. For stocks I put a 'generally no' and the reason is most business do not stand the test of time well. In 10 years, more businesses will get replaced with other businesses as compared to businesses that will grow bigger. See the S&P500 companies, the rate of companies getting replaced in the index has nearly doubled in the past 10 years as compared to the 1960s. There is more risk, more unknowns. If you are telling me that you have spotted a business that is absolutely bang-on to multiply it's size in 10 years and you are willing to bet your house on it, then by all means DCA. Because that stock now is seen as a higly trustable store of future value. Even the hedge fund billionaires admit the difficulty of spotting such companies in recent times. I'm not saying you can't, I'm saying I admit to my own weaknesses that I most probably can't. Statistics are against me too. Keep in mind for every Coca-Cola; there is a Polaroid, Blockbuster and Yahoo. Stocks for me as a smaller investor, is something that I need to monitor constantly amid macro forces and adjust. I wanted to explain is as brief a text as possible, and this is about the best that I can manage. I hope that clarifies my position. Is WB's formula works in Msia? Can we find any with a very bright future earning and profit company that we can hold for long? Then how do we earn and win in bursa? Hmm.. just questioning myself and looking for answer. QUOTE(Vanguard 2015 @ Feb 7 2021, 11:23 PM) I do have some basis for what I say. I first started investing in unit trusts about 16 to 17 years ago. Stock investment came later for me. So, I have done the comparison. It's a very good lesson to share and learn. But nothing beats actual experience. If you have the budget, you can give it a try. Use RM12K to DCA for 12 months into a reputable unit trust with FSM One Malaysia and use another RM12K to DCA 12 months into Top Glove, Tenaga, Public Bank or whatever stock that you fancy. Please compare the results after 12 months. Thank you very much! |

Haiz... why msia companies can't do business sustainably in honor way and let the business last for 50 years 100 years and proudly just like US companies.. instead of goreng nasi goreng mee... that's why foreign funds ran away...

![]() MYR is already weaken against USD since YTD. We all know US gonna raise interest rate against inflation sooner or later, that's gonna strengthen USD and weaken MYR. Yet Msia doesn't have the ability to raise OPR to catch up with USD, instead we're under pressure to cut OPR some more. For sure MYR gonna decrease value. |
