KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian police have denied reports of 50 taxi drivers attacking an Uber Car in central Kuala Lumpur.
Speaking to reporters, Brickfields Assistant Commissioner Sharul Othman Mansor said on Wednesday (Jun 22) that it was an altercation between one taxi driver and an Uber driver.
According to the New Straits Times, Sharul said: "The incident took place at 12.30pm on Monday. The Uber vehicle, which was ferrying an Iranian passenger to her destination, was obstructed by two or three taxi drivers. This led to an argument between them."
The police chief also denied that the Uber vehicle's windows were shattered by objects thrown by the attackers.
Reports had been circulating online that 50 taxi drivers had pulled out the Iranian passenger and attacked the Uber vehicle, injuring the tourist.
