QUOTE(Polaris @ Apr 15 2007, 07:25 PM) How many watts does the noctua fan use? According to Noctua website, then 1200rpm Noctua fan is 1.44W whic is using 0.12A... Also, I read somewhere that just a rice grain of thermal paste is enough but the guy at the pc shop who helped me install the thing used half a shringe of the supplied thermal paste that comes with the U12F, spreading them like icing on a birthday cake. Is that okay? If you use AS5 or Arctic Silver Ceramique, use the rice grain method is better, but you can apply it the whole IHS too...as for normal ceramique thermal paste, apply it to the whole IHS will be better...as for the thermal paste given by Noctua, I am not sure... |

QUOTE(Polaris @ Apr 16 2007, 03:10 AM) That's great, I'll be looking out for this fan when my lame front and back cooler master fan dies out. Hopefully irangan will still be around. Sure irangan will still be around... So far, the cpu temp never goes above 44 C.. so I'll assume the paste is spread okay and leave it at that. |

QUOTE(Polaris @ Apr 16 2007, 08:46 AM) I'm using the athlon 3000+, due to space issues some compromises had to be made with the position of the noctua unit. ic. No choice lor since your mobo is design like that... maybe put a higher CFM fan at rear there could help a bit...like those FM-121 (have ) or delta fan (if noise not the matter to you...) Ideally it should blow air through the noctua towards the rear, but now it's PULLING air from the noctua towards the power supply. Any other position was not possible or else the whole unit would be either bumping into the 3d card or hitting the ram. But now the temp is okay so everything seems to work out fine in the end lol. |

QUOTE(irangan @ Apr 16 2007, 09:46 PM) I just took out my Noctua and have a look. Damm alot of pressure since the tim spread till overflow abit. This is the first time i see complain about noctua not enough pressure. Try to install your backplate and those mounting on the mobo again and have a look on your mobo. it is bend? hehe never mind...haha...how is your new mobo...should be great... Sry.... Forgot... I am too busy playing with my new mobo. So abit lack of update sry sry Nono... Too much TIM only will decrease the performance. If it is not touching the processor, you need to use other method. putting more TIM wont help for sure. Noted that. Thanks for your support. errrr.... I will be around if there is demand for U12F else if i only take the fan only, it will cost at least RM90 when reach malaysia. Yes, those stock tim is not silver. it is normal white tim. Noted that. Thanks for your support. btw...this afternoon I ask uncle ianho whether he still want the Noctua fan...he say now dun want liao coz he getting the Evercool aluminium fan liao wor... |

Not stable enough but very good in OC lo. heheh You mean it is not stable enough while you OC right? or it is not stable no matter OC or not OC... Noted that. thanks for your support Personally I didnt use TTBT VX before but I do think that the performance is on par but Noctua will be more silent. |

QUOTE(Panda @ Apr 18 2007, 10:00 AM) no, i mean for NH-U12F heatsink, is it ok to install other brand of fan like coolermaster or thermaltake...? or we must use NOCTUA fan on those heatsink? You can install any fan of your liking...not necessary to install Noctua fan...but Noctua fan will be better as it is quite and have great performance...if you like, you can put those high CFM fan too...but the noise level will be an issue too... |

QUOTE(Polaris @ Apr 21 2007, 02:23 PM) Finally learned how to use the dell card reader to transfer pics.. Actually you measure yourself already can know it will crash with the GC and Ram for sure if wanna put as push to rear... Look at the noctua positioning below. Contrary to what the support guys said in an email exchange about this mobo and how the unit is made to fit almost any mobo, this unit just could not be positioned facing the rear, as this would clash with both ram and 3d card. The fan had to be on this side rather than behind, or it would suck the back of the radeon. And right now, the two slots of ram closest to the noctua is essentially unusable because of the fan. Still, the temp is alright, 44 C (no oc) if the room has no air-con.. just that the position is not ideal to maximize airflow and cooling. from the photo you show, it is impossible to put the fan as push, but pull also will do about the same lor I think...not much different as your is put as 90 degree... may I know what fan is that at the rear? how much is the CFM? If high CFM, then don't need to worry as the rear fan will be have enough power to suck out all the hot air, if low CFM, then maybe will have a little bit problem, where there might have some hot air trap between HSF and PSU... the PSU fan normally is low rpm isn't it (correct me if I am wrong...), so it can't help much in suck out the hot air... Besides, try arrange a bit your cable there, abit messy, which might disturb a bit your air flow... |

QUOTE(akachester @ Apr 21 2007, 10:37 PM) Bro irangan, I remember last time read from a review somewhere about it, it is a cable which have a resistor inside which will make the fan to spin slower, that is, lower rpm, so the noise will lower too...but of course the CFM will lower too... but it will still work great...but I think that require you have a great air flow casing and you are really look into very very silent setup... Just read about the NH-U12F description you have on the first page and saw this : Using the supplied Ultra-Low-Noise adaptor, the noise level can be lowered to only 8dB(A)! What is that Ultra-Low-Noise adaptor and what does it do?Is it available for sale? |

QUOTE(akachester @ Apr 21 2007, 11:38 PM) Oh..if thats the case, then not good for me..lol..I thought it was able to do the same CFM at much lower noise level.lol..Anyway 17dB should be fine with me.If i wanted something slower, i could get a fan controller..THe S12-1200 doesnt come with a fan controller isit? QUOTE(akachester @ Apr 22 2007, 10:34 AM) Using a fan controller to slow it down mean it will have lower CFM lor...it is same with using the adapter except one is permanent and the other can change... and yes, the S12-1200 does not come with fan controller, they use the adapter instead of fan controller... and you need to purchase it separately, it not come together... |

QUOTE(akachester @ Apr 22 2007, 01:08 PM) How much you think it will cost if purchased seperately and how low will the CFM become if use with the adapter? I don't know how much is it. Maybe can wait for irangan to ask his supplier...but I think it is not worth lor...QUOTE(irangan @ Apr 22 2007, 01:22 PM) Yeah.. Sure you still can join the bulk so you getting yourself few more fan too ya... I will post your name Correct Thanks ya Noted that. Thanks ya Ya lo... I was waiting for ppl to resell the fan to me but noone did. I need to order few for myself too. Recieved I will ask my supplier about this. Actually even the fan running at full speed, you wont even hear any sound from it unless you put your ear beside the casing. haha.. So are you sure those adapter worth that money I not sure about that. Need to ask my supplier to me, 8 dba and 17 dba not much difference to me. Haha... Too much bass music to me. My ear cant hear that well. Hehe Errr..... No... Anyway, I will ask for you QUOTE(Polaris @ Apr 22 2007, 04:27 PM) Yup, there was no other position possible. The rear fan do not have enough power to suck out the hot air... get something higher, maybe a 60+CFM or 80+CFM or if can get something more than 100CFM will be better, but the noise level will be higher for high CFM... just choose something your can bear with... if you want some suggestion, I would say buy the Silverstone FM-121...have 110CFM+ at full speed, have fan controller which you can adjust the fan speed to meet your noise level... The back fan is spinning at 42 CFM, it's just a generic cooler master type. I don't think the psu fan is anything special either, very likely it's low rpm. I don't know if the cables can be arranged more neatly, as two ends are pulled a long way below for the gc and hdd but I'll try. Here's another closer look of the ram slots being overwhelmed lol, Added on April 22, 2007, 9:35 pm QUOTE(peacenik @ Apr 22 2007, 09:11 PM) ASUS A8N-VM CSM 1) As your mobo is using K8 (939) socket, so no choice, can only install vertical, that is push to PSU... [attachmentid=221384] Pls Help me to solve my doubt. 1) How will the NH-U12F install in this ASUS A8N-VM CSM MOBO?? Vertical or horizontal??? Will it block my RAM or Vga Slot?? 2) Can I have 2 Noctua NF-S12-1200 & NC-U6 with this ASUS A8N-VM CSM MOBO?? Thx for helping bcoz i found out that the this MOBO is no on the Noctua NH-U12f Compatibility List You can try to measure the length from middle of the socket screw to th ram slot, if it have more than 63mm, then should be no problem...besides, from the info I get from the FAQ in Noctua website, NH-U12F design to be higher a bit so that it will not crash with ram, but from Polaris experience, it seem will be crash by the fan... 2)Noctua fan should be no problem to install as push & NC-U6 can be install, as for Noctua fan as pull, you need to make sure there will be have about 20mm space between your mobo edge to PSU... or it will crash for sure... if your casing is capalang one, then no hope for fan as pull, if otherwise, then can... Above statement is just my estimation, you should try to measure it yourself, use the information given in Noctua website to measure it before purchase...
