Doubt they will replace your current model with a C9. Not sure. Usually this only happens if you buy those premium warranties from HVN or something. Could be wrong though?

If that's the case, it's up to the generosity of LG. From my experience of claiming warranties from various manufacturers, they will replace with the exact same model if no repair can be done. It's a bit tricky in this case as the C8 is an older model which is no longer in production.
Best case, you'll get a C9. Worst case, monetary compensation for the purchase price of the C8. Realistically, top up an amount to get a C9.
