Do a clean install. icon_idea.gif

Most likely the WiFi driver has somewhat broke... icon_idea.gif

How long does it take to install Windows 10 after downloading Win. 10 updates? I'm downloading Win. 10 updates now (progress is 54%, bcause of slow internet), but I'll put my laptop to sleep mode & resume downloads 2moro.

Can anyone tell me whether it's worth it upgrading frm Win. 8.1? Frm wat I've seen on d internet, upgrading takes a long time... unsure.gif

the time needed depends on your system (eg. how many software applications are on your old os; doing it on ssd or hdd). to cut the time shorter, you can grab w10 iso with media creation tool, make a bootable usb with it, and run setup.exe in it to do offline upgrade. you can run the same bootable usb to do a clean install of w10 later, after successful upgrade. (make sure the computer is connected to the internet during the upgrade)

before doing anything, it's safer to do a full data backup to external storage.

tbh, worth it or not, it's up to you to tell (it's really a personal preference). some adapt to w10 quickly and their systems are running fine; some have hiccups here and there and do not like it. in terms of costs, the upgrade is still free before 29 July 2016.

this morning, I resumed d download, but d download failed towards 100%. I'm re-downloading d Windows 10 update and I think I'll juz forgo d Win. 10 upgrade should this current download fails, bcause I feel dat upgrading my Win. 8.1 to Win. 10 is juz too time consuming & too much of a hassle, due to my slow internet connection & bcause I'm juz not tech-savvy enuf... blush.gif

good luck; yeah with slow internet, everything will be much slow. in such case, the better upgrade method is to download w10 iso and do it offline.

for things like os upgrades, it's better not to take it lightly if your computer is the main one for daily use. although it's not the end of the world, but disasters can be PITA. fortunately, associated risks that can lead to disasters usually can be minimized with a simple preparation and recovery plan (prepare for the worst; you can recover much more faster when bad things happen):
1. make full system and data backups;
2. download all latest and compatible drivers for new os;
3. download w10 iso and prepare the bootable usb stick.

Nice smile.gif

You should check if everything is working fine for you. Get latest drivers and patches from vendors if necessary.

Been upgraded from Win 7 Pro for few days, what I find is this Win 10 a bit sluggish, longer boot-time and softwares' launch time. Also not as good looking as Win 7 Aero Glass. Infact, I feel Win 10 has cheap plasticky interface like Win 8.

I miss Win 7 now......

Is it very slow or a bit slow. If very slow, and desktop icon very slow to load, try to disable windows defender. Also some hardware drivers that are not optimized for Windows 10 also make load up time slow. Anyway, I think Windows 10 has option to revert back to Windows 7.

Just a bit slower. Maybe due to my aging hardwares?? I don't use windows defender, I use Comodo Internet Security Free version.

You can check if windows defender is installed or not (type defender in the search) I think windows 10 its comes built-in.
