U can start with starbucks coffee bean first. Once u master the brewing skill only go for expensive bean. Im back to use starbucks bean on & off. 😂

Instant is easy... Pour hot water than if not "kao" add more..

Fresh coffee is another level, the steps & method brewing it give the coffee more character. Some of days i went lazy to time the drip or tune up the coarseness of grind, this all affect the taste slightly.. For instance it will always be very consistent but dead.

If i were to care about those calories in instance vs fresh than i would jz drink plain hot water. If it were to be technically counting calories. Even in fresh brew plain coffee has calories and it depend on brewing methods. Remember coffee has oils and if is in coffee than it has calories. Paper filter might block those oils but not metal filter. Also some coffee which has oils taste nicer to some drinker.

can consider a manual hario; the slim plus or the skerton plus.
dont buy those cheap chinese "prolex" knock off.
grinding coffee manually in the morning can be quite therapeutic.

for me..u can get espresso capable machine under 1k if u want...but will be limited to machine that can serve around 5 cups a day..can do latte+art after some practice
4k machine if u are serious about your coffee la..
drinking at home is quite cheap, but the learning process will take some time..
also, if u maintain ur machine nicely it will last forever..(my NS musica aged almost 5 years already, still running strong)
but it is good for once a while to drink at cafe (i do it for my personal benchmark)
