I'm on china official rom and mi store nagging me to update to latest version (7.2.7), so I don't think you need to worry? biggrin.gif

As a matter of fact, I read about Redmi Note 3 forum at MIUI forum, china rom team seems to be more hardworking with updates where global rom team slack and slow with updates.

By the way, read about 7.2.x onwards battery life not as good, so I'm staying on 7.1.3 at the moment. No problem with the rom whatsoever, no hang no reboot, and has all the function I need. In comparison, my samsung s7e hang and reboot few times throughout 2 weeks of use. blink.gif

7.2 onwards Antutu benchmark score increase by 20-30%. 7.1 is not as smooth as 7.2 so basically you trade battery life for performance

I went to search for the Google installer and once done you can use it to install all the Google services and play store. The important thing toinstall is actually the Google frame work thingy and Google service.

I even read about mi store can actually search for Google installer but I didnt bother and straightgo search internet for the APK instead. biggrin.gif

I don't feel the performance lacking actually, satisfied with it as a light user. biggrin.gif

You can follow this guide first, flashing ROM without using PC:

http://en.miui.com/download-298.html

If it's not able to flash for whatever reason which is what happened to mine, where the software doesn't recognise the ROM file, use this manual flash guide. Do click the link to go to youtube website, cause the video description contain all the necessary download.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffytnVrBc9E

The video didn't show the most vital step though. First have to install Mi PCsuite, as it'll install USB driver, or else your PC cannot detect your phone. Another problem is you MUST use 64bit windows (according to guide on MIUI forum) though, or else will give you "not enough memory" problem, happened to mine, and it soft bricked my phone. You can try use 32bit windows to do it, if really flash unsuccessful, don't panic, just unplug the USB cable, press and hold power button, your phone will restart and enter boot loop (keep restart but won't get past MI logo), hold the volume up+down and you'll see the phone stop boot loop and looked like it's shutdown (but it's actually entering download mode again), connect USB, flash again.

i'm torn between this and mi4c...

redmi3
- metal
- bigger battery capacity
- can expand storage via microsd

mi4c
- better processor
- reversible usb type c
- better screen resolution
- dual led flash

Depends what you want. You might be disappointed with the camera and gaming experience. Otherwise, the battery alone can be the sole reason to get this phone. I'm now 3hr sot (chrome and FB and WhatsApp) and my battery 76%, unplugged 9am this morning. brows.gif

Dunno how to describe my feeling towards the battery life. Totally amazed, I feel like I'm using iPad level of battery life. Browsing, FB, WhatsApp, some music and YouTube. When watching YouTube even 720p will only eat up 1% battery every 6mins. And I don't dim my display, left it at auto brightness slider right at the middle. Never off WiFi and GPS, too lazy to toggle them on and off.

It's not a performance car, rather like a small boring car that you get you to wherever you want to go, with extreme fuel efficiency, and dependable reliability. No crash or restarts so far. Very happy with it. rclxms.gif

Stock china ROM 7 .1.3 stable. Nope phone not shut down but somehow it just displayed that way... hmm.gif

Also I don't use any battery profile, just lock screen put away and sleep. Overnight it lose about 2-3 percent. If I don't install Facebook and messenger I probably get better standby. biggrin.gif

To those who bought this phone from local seller, strongly recommend you to flash the phone with official ROM.

The phone from local seller (unofficial), the Rom is tampered causing the rom to be bloated with ads and bloatwares. The battery is better thou surprisingly
