 how to check what video format?, avi, wmv, mkv...

i'm using BSplayer to play my video files, when i click properties, the file type all show as BSplayer files...
how can i know whether it is avi, or wmv or other format?

cpanel > folder option > view tab > untick 'hide extensions for known file type'

Even though you can see the file extension, some file extensions like AVI can be in more than one formats (for example, the it can be xvid or divx codec)

So using GSpot to identify the codec type is the most accurate way.

GSpot "designed" for AVI only. Sighh....Although it can check MKV & OGM, but what codec being used (in MKV & OGM) cannot be determine.

But you can use my trick. Load MKV & OGM using Media Player Classic (MPC). Go to File > Properties (Shift + 10). Go to Details. There you go. Can see what kind of codec being used.

I even assign different "playback" icon between AVI, MKV & OGM. Easy for me. thumbup.gif

i also use this trick to check the video format and bitrate
but the format sure will show, while the bitrate not in every video...

ohh thanks everyone XD i can check the format now

but i'm not familiar with the codecs thing... TTATT
cos i want to know how the movie i download from net can be so clear yet the size is so small (video game videos) but i record straight from ps2 cannot get so clear and the file size is so big...

dunno how to convert to the format they use in the net 1... haih...
