QUOTE(carpathia @ Feb 25 2016, 02:42 PM) if only i can upgrade my macbook pro memory from 8gb to 16gb sadly RAM is soldered on like b*tch haha. Wait for the Skylake models this year. Hope there's at least 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports. If they do include it, I'm selling my newly bought 15" retina MacBook Pro for it. haha I depend highly on Thunderbolt devices.

QUOTE(carpathia @ Feb 25 2016, 03:51 PM) what thunderbolt devices do you use ??? If anyone wanna buy my macboook pro 15" 8gb memory 256 SSD (late 2014 Retina), we should talk I've got 4 LaCie thunderbolt hard drives for offloading tons of videos after shooting them. The main reason I want Thunderbolt 3 is that its USB type C. I'm using the Nexus 6P. C to C's got some serious transfer speeds but sadly the Nexus 6P only has a USB 2.0 instead of a 3.0 or 3.1. C toC is a nice thing to have instead of the A to C which charges the phone horrendously slow

Go check it out. But I warn you first. Slickwraps is not better quality than dbrand. I'm using Slickwraps on my phone now. It's torn now. and i only applied it 3 weeks ago. Dbrand skins lasted me more than 6 months.

QUOTE(takenaga @ Mar 10 2016, 06:25 PM) im not into wood design. more to black-leather-ultralinx style. haha oh really? i had one dbrand before for my nexus 4. it still look like the first day i use it. the leather one from slickwraps is real leather, its gonna be thick and look worn after a certain period of time. Sure it looks good but it doesnt mix well with a macbook imho haha

QUOTE(koonghx @ Mar 24 2016, 09:31 AM) Anyone here has rMBP and a thunderbolt to DVI-D adapter? My macbook crashes when I connect it to the monitor while the lid is closed. After I wake up the macbook and then open the lid, the macbook will crash to the login screen. I asked Apple Support and they don't know what is causing it and asked me to bring it to the service center. Anyone can help me test this issue to see if it's just or does it affect anyone else. Thanks! Never have such an issue. I'm always running my MacBook in clamshell mode and never had this issue tho.

QUOTE(Lego Warfare @ Mar 30 2016, 12:31 PM) If that's really happening, it'll be a short lived transference from my MBP13" for 5 months to a Surface Pro 4 for 4 months and again to a MBP13" 2016 lol. But i'll be very skeptical on how they'll be able to deal with heat management in a similar 12" slim body type. Fitting a fan would be very cramped, plus it'll be doubtful if they can fit in heat sinks as well. Considering the 2015 13" version didn't handle heat too nicely, i'd be wary of stressing a slimmer 13" MBP... I'm only interested in Thunderbolt 3 port. That alone is enough to make jump from my rMBP 15" 2015 to the 2016 model.

QUOTE(engseng @ Apr 3 2016, 08:44 PM) 2016 MacBook Pro should get the USB-C ports! After all, Apple was the one who invented it... I don't think Apple "invented" USB C. They merely contributed to the USB C spec.

QUOTE(PPZ @ Apr 22 2016, 09:09 AM) Hey guys, just started to learn how to use Macbook Pro. This unit belongs to my gf and she didn't use it much often. Since my PC is died and i think wouldn't harm me if i learn to use Mac. By the way, if i want to format or reset to factory mode for my gf's Macbook Pro (Unit manufactured in 2010), how to do it? Since she complained the machine a bit slow already. The Macbook Pro OS now is OS X Yosemite. Can upgrade to OS El Capitan? Can download "Install El Capitan" from the App Store. If you want to reformat, you still need the original file. But I think "Install El Capitan" will suffice in formatting it. Just do it in one go.

QUOTE(ionStorm @ Apr 24 2016, 06:19 PM) Don't know if you can install El Capitan one shot. I tried that on an MBP and hit an error. I had to install the original OS and upgrade to El Capitan. Took forever... That's what I did when I f*cked up my EC beta channel updates. Lost 5 years worth of memories in one library. I think you can. If I'm not mistaken, you initiate a wipe for your drive and just plug in the EC USB bootable drive and just install it from there on. Quick tip. If you're on the beta channel for OS X updates, DO NOT downgrade. Stay on the same build and unenrolll yourself from the beta channel and wait for a public release. You will experience crash in Photos Library that cannot be recovered. Not even a time machine backup can bring you back.

QUOTE(PPZ @ Apr 25 2016, 08:31 AM) ahhh.. even i dont format my computer, i still can install El Capitan right? I scare my MBP (2010 version) run slow on that software. Yes you can. You can download the "Install El Capitan" from the App Store and follow the link here and just shut down your Mac and boot it up in recovery and install it to the same partition you're trying to upgrade.
