128gb storage is a joke now for such powerhouse machine.

Yes it is.

Made a terrible mistake when buying one.

Now I'm thinking about getting Transcend JetDrive Lite 330 icon_idea.gif

Data transfer from laptop to wd personal cloud storage is slow. and it can only be done via network (wired or wireless). So the transfer speed relies a lot a lot on your LAN speed, such as your wireless router maximum transfer speed and worst part is no USB connection can be used to transfer the data from PC into the cloud storage and it takes super long time to download data out from the storage. It will be a disaster if u need to transfer a huge amount of data onto it.

I have one 2TB, it is good to use as a steaming server for video etc but it is bad when it needs to transfer data in and out from it,

Yes indeed, the lan must be a speedy one in order to get the faster upload/download to/fro rmbp and personal cloud. As reference, 5gb of data takes roughly 3 minutes wirelessly. When wired, ie rmbp hooked up to router will half its time. I think for my setup, it is exceptable. But I do remember when I first got the cloud, it took alot of time to backup all the files for the first time. Its considerably faster on subsequent backups though.

This is the worriest part, if it is to retrieve the data out from the storage, it is a painful process, especially it is talking about data in TBs....

The magsafe adapter on my macbook retina just failed. Disappointed with it since its only a year old and looks brand new. I hardly bring the charger around, usually just stays in the same place. My last macbook white charger lasted me about 2 years+. Expected more from this one.

these are some cool apps I'm using with my rMBP 2014 right now:
Pixelmator
Quiver
Parallel Desktop (for booting another OS on top of OS X)
MS Office suite (iWork is fine, just that productivity wise, MS is still taking a lead)
CleanMyMac 3
iStatistica (love the stats!)
Fantastical (You've gotta admit natural language rocks!)
Elmedia Player (QuickTime aint compatible with some industrial format)
Xcode

Pretty much that's it for my 128 SSD, should have gone for larger capacity for crying out loud  cry.gif

Quick tip. If you use the 32bit version of Windows, it takes up half the space and less RAM. Windows 10 takes roughly 9GB after clean up.

Yeah I installed windows 10 on it and it was crazy, but lucky for me windows XP serves everything I need and it only takes about 2GB rclxms.gif

32 bits windows can utilize 4GB ram only, so the system cannot tame advantage of the 8GB ram.

128GB became the greatest bottleneck that limits the usability of the device similar to 16GB iPhone.

Resell value is low too for 128GB version of MacBook.

I'm wondering if by using Jetdrive Lite 330 can actually use it like normal OSX HDD for softwares,
not only limited to media, docs etc.

But due to the insufficient storage space and u are forced to purchase additional external storage. The extra cost incurred is actually the same plus as it is external storage instead of internal one, u will need to live with some limitation of it.

If it is not enough now, it will be greater challenger as the OS and app size will grow even larger in size in future.
