all Sifus,

i am comparing 2 model
1. U41-70 Ultrabook -14” / I5-5200U / 4GB / 256GB SSD / N16V-GM 2G / W10H
2. Asus K401LB-FA003H - 14" / i5-5200U / 4GB / 1TB / GT940 2GB / W8.1

one with SSD, anodhter with great graphic card.

both the price are about the same. mainly for paperwork, online surfing, watch movie, and little game like the Sims 4.
*
if i were you, i choose the laptop that came with ssd
for the sims 4, the N16V-GM graphic card can play that game with medium setting in hd resolution

1. Budget: 2k-2.5k
2. Usage: Autocad, movies, downloads , online, edit & view office document.

QUOTE(DesktopLimousine @ Jan 8 2016, 10:09 PM)
Im still in dilemma of purchasing new notebook for gaming. Budget is around 4k. Prefer notebook with gtx960m gpu. My target are dell inspiron 15 7559 or asus g551 both with same gpu but different cpu. Im an extreme gamer. But I also consider illegear z5 with gtx970m. Had anyone experienced with illegear notebook and service provided? If do, pls let me know
*
iinm illegear z5 with gtx970m comes with 5.5k price tag sweat.gif
if you really care about after sales service, choose dell inspiron 15 7559 since dell are famous for their excellent warranty and after sales service compared with asus which is notoriously known for their bad after sales service (in malaysia only)
if you not really care about those thing, you can opted Asus ROG GL552VW instead asus g551 where Asus ROG GL552VW has up to date specs (skylake processor and DDR4 ram) and it comes with 128gb ssd too
and if possible can try to upgrade ram up to 8gb since games nowadays are starting demand for 6gb above to play smoothly.

1. Any good after sales warranty(at least 2 years) brand (Owned a 7447 1080p HD i7 but sold due to small screen size and low performance GPU)
2. Budget RM4.8k below
3. Usage solely ultra setting gaming without monitor
4. Preferences : Bigger than 15" screen MUST IPS Display, bigger the better, at least 960m GPU, at least core i5 latest generation CPU, long battery life, good cooling system, future proof ( at least 3 years).
*
you can try take a look at Lenovo Ideapad Y700, not bad after sales service, long lasting battery that can last up to 6 hours for browsing, and has a good cooling system but i cant guarantee that 960m can be a future proof till 3 years unless it was 970m or 980m that can be future proof till 3 years hmm.gif
if u insist to have a very good after sales service, Dell Inspiron 15 7559 is the answer but bear in mind this laptop doesn't come with IPS panel.

but it doesn't come with ssd, you might want to upgrade to ssd by yourself but bear in mind it will void your warranty if you upgrade by yourself..you should send to asus center service if you want to upgrade to ssd

*
QUOTE(franklooi96 @ Jan 13 2016, 08:57 PM)
Hello! Am posting here after using and loving the Lenovo Y480. Time to upgrade/change!

1. Preferred Brand: I'm fairly comfortable with Lenovo/Dell, but any brand with superb warranty policy/reliable tech support will do
2. Budget: <RM3000
3. Usage:
- Dual Boot (Windows + Ubuntu)
- BATTERY LIFE!
- Schoolwork consists of a fair bit of creative work and word processing.
- Back-lit keyboard will be awesome
- Good speakers (loud and clear)
- Keyboard/touchpad experience important
- I've quit gaming, unlikely to touch one so heavy graphic performance is not so important
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: <17"
5. Other preference:
- I'm thinking of IBM Lenovo Thinkpads, if possible please recommend specific model
- No touch screen if possible
- Build quality also important

smile.gif
*
for those requirements, i suggest Lenovo ThinkPad E550 for you
-outstanding battery life than can last up to 9 hours for web browsing
-as we all know the keyboard and trackpad from Thinkpad line are really good for those who concern about keyboard and trackpad experience
-build quality for this laptop also very good too
but the after sales service for Lenovo pretty sure cant fight with Dell but their after sales service still pretty decent though
and for the speakers im not quite sure whether this laptop can give you a loud and clear sound but this problem can be fixed with external speaker or bluetooth speaker.

3. Usage: Light gaming, photo and video editing, programming and assignments

5. Other preferences:

Looking for a laptop. Any recommendation?

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand, prefer good warranty.
2. Budget: below 2.5K, might be able to up to 2.7k, 3k if spec is too good than 2.7k...
3. Usage: gaming, Matlab, Catia, other engineering softwares, gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14" and above...
5. Other preferences:
-something on par with my lenovo y400 (dead mobo, out of warranty)
-If the budget is too low, feel free to play around with the spec (with gaming in mind)
-I don't mind gaming at 720p/medium as long as it's 60 fps.

Thanks in advances...
*
if you very concern about gaming performance with very good warranty, topup a little bit take Dell Inspiron 15 7559 price RM3.4k (no windows)
it comes with gtx 960m that can play most modern games at medium-high setting 1080p
but if your budget cant go above 3k, Dell Inspiron 14 7447 price RM2.8k is good for gaming with their gtx 850m, try to visit this thread for review of this laptop

Hi guys.
Can someone recommend me a laptop that:

1. Lightweight
2. Good specs for online (browser, streaming, programming, MS Office, games like The Sims 4 and less GPU dependent)
3. Not too big..
4. Price around MYR5,000 at most. Or any better options (mind to add up)

I wanted to buy a macbook, but I am not familiar with Apple since I have been using Windows since forever.

icon_question.gif

Thanks in advance guys
*
for your requirement i suggest Dell XPS 13 price at RM5k
-weight around 1.2kg
-good for all your needs
-screen size is 13 inch so the size are not too big
-sleek design

if you intended to play other games which required a quite demanding gpu power, can consider Dell Vostro 14 V5459 price at RM3.5k or Acer TravelMate P6 TMP645 price at RM4.5k

Looking for a laptop. Any recommendation?

1. Preferred Brand - Any
2. Budget - below RM5500
3. Usage - networking and programming softwares, mild gaming (dota2, star wars battlefront 2015, fifa 16)
4. 14-17 inch display
5. have a cool design (professional look)
6. HAVE A LONG BATTERY LIFE. this is really important as i will be using my laptop for all my works. needed atleast 6 hours of battery life with mild use.

please give me a review on the illegear z5 battery life also. any z5 users out there?? smile.gif

thank you sifus. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
since you really concern about battery life over gaming performance, i recommend to you Lenovo ThinkPad T440p price at 4.5k++, it has an excellent battery life that can last up to 10 hours for web surfing but it only use nvidia gt 730m so its only can play in low setting for star wars battlefront 2015

if you cant tolerate with low setting when playing star wars, can try take a look at Asus G551JW price at 4.4k, can play modern games at medium-high setting 1080p and the battery life are quite decent that can last up to 4.5 hours for web surfing same like illegear z5

Thank you for your suggestions.

i5 iGPU can handle any MMORPG with medium setting though? Or AAA games with medium - high settings?

I'd prefer 6th gen processor for better future proof though..

Anyway I'd appreciate this biggrin.gif
*
i5 igpu can handle mmorpg games with medium setting without any problem but it cant played AAA games with medium-high setting, you gonna need a dedicated graphic card like gtx 960m and above to play AAA games with medium-high setting

those laptops i recommend comes with 6th gen processor except Acer comes with 5th gen processor

Hi sifus, need help again this time..
currently, maximum budget is rm2400.. cannot go up anymore.
main purpose will be only for work, doing some medium programming and watch movies.
Requirement needed:

- must be windows 7 (my environment restrict me not to use windows 8,10.. this part sucks)
- 14" only, slim design would be nice.
- i3/i5 processor, anything that good for multitask,
- no need for graphic card,
- at least 2-3 slot USB port.
- at least 300gb storage minimum
- good battery life, some condition will work without power plug nearby for 1-2hr.

additional,
need to have with microsoft office (word, excel and powerpoint) together, doesnt matter if need to buy separately but must be under the budget restraint.
looking only for asus, toshiba or lenovo notebook, no dell.

Any recommendation with this budget? need both laptop and ms office together with that limit.
please and thank you.
*
these days laptops mostly comes with windows 8 or 10, very rarely they comes with windows 7
must downgrade the OS by yourself but the budget to buy retail windows 7, quite pricey though
if you okay with pirated version then i can suggest some laptops that meet your requirement within that budget

Asus A555LB-XX410T price at 2.9k should be enough for your needs
but if you use it for playing more extensive modern games, try take a look at Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7 price at 3k, its using gtx950m so it can handle any modern games in medium-high setting.
