You're clearly mistaken. Sanyo was bought over by Panasonic. It's still a Japanese brand. But you are correct about recommending not to buy Sanyo brand product. Because Panasonic has been slowly terminating the Sanyo brand since 2012. Most of the products labelled under Sanyo brand nowadays are old stock from past ages.

But the Toshiba also very reliable, got it for replacement for the broken Sharp, 6 years no problem.
