The Bridge is not bad either! Have a huge view of the tarmac and runway~  brows.gif

The Bridge is great except that it's always so crowded, including my last visit in June 2016. The newly reopened Pier should be much better in this regard considering the size.

Hi,

I have 2 millions treatpoints with Maybank 2 premier cards and I'm starting to plan for a one year round the world trip in first class.

*
Hi gommm, sorry for the late reply but tishaban has already covered most of what I was going to say. I also have no experience in SQ RTW redemption but I've done Asia Miles' multi carrier award redemptions (MCAR) and SQ regular award redemptions. All my redemptions have been minimum of 2 persons so if you're just redeeming for yourself, the experience should be smoother.

I used KVS when booking my last few Asia Miles MCAR. No real added value like you said (I just kind of liked its retro GUI and Mobile Companion tool). I haven't renewed my subscription since and have been using mainly Asia Miles own website to search for individual sectors when piecing together the entire trip.

All my MCARs were not strictly RTW, it was more like 2-3 trips for a year with me coming back to SIN and taking a flight home and resuming my next trip from SIN. I understand in your case the inability to change dates for a partially used ticket is very limiting to your planning. I know upgrading from J to F is not allowed for a partially used ticket but best to call them and check re date changes.

SQ's Krisflyer Membership hotline staff are generally quite good in my experience (much better than CX/Asia Miles'). Redeeming SQ Suites has always been interesting, especially now that the new Suites are coming. What route do you have in mind?

I won't convert your treatpoints until you have a pretty good idea of the dates, routes and respective award availability.

Have fun and report back!

Thanks dctravels. I actually was a bit disappointed with KVS because I had read earlier reviews saying that they had access to SABRE but that's no longer the case...

So for your MCARs, did you book those 2-3 trips as a single award or as multiple awards? I've heard that it's not possible to backtrack multiple times to the same city but then again the information on that is not very clear.
So far my idea of a route would be something like:

CDG/FRA(or any other city in Europe)-HKG/SIN-SYD-TYO-HNL and then an open jaw to leave from JFK back to the city I departed from.

It could really work with both CX and SQ. I'm kind of leaning toward CX because I need less miles  and then I can pay for a SQ first suites award another time with the remaining miles or book for next year. I've had a lot of business expenses that went to my credit card this year so I earned a lot of miles with the Maybank 2 premier but I don't expect that to happen next year.

By the way, what happens if I'm a no show for the last leg of my trip?  I might decide to visit south american countries instead of going back to Europe.
*
My MCARs were all a single award. Some agents will refuse backtracking to same city, others are more lenient. YMMV. My last MCAR I was a no show for the last sector. Not quite sure what you mean by what will happen. Since it was the last sector and all previous sectors were flown, we just did not show up.

Hi Sifus, I have been given a choice of 500K Asia Miles or 25K cash vouchers by a bank as a reward for investment. May I know which is a better choice in terms of dollar value? If I am not wrong, the air miles should give better value dollar wise but I am not a member of AM (yet) and I am wondering if 500K miles can fetch 2 award tickets on Cathay biz classfrom KL - New York? Many thanks
*
500K Asia Miles can get you 2 First Class tickets to JFK with 60k miles to spare.

Mind sharing what kind of investment and which bank? biggrin.gif

Thanks guys for your quick response. So it is a no brainer that I should choose the miles then? 2 return 1st class tickets to JFK would costs maybe RM40k? Of course with shopping vouchers it is immediate gratification while the air miles may be more difficult to redeem.

dctravels, I will not reveal the investment but if you have a RM with SC bank you may want to give her a call smile.gif

Thanks for the pointer.

CX F KUL-HKG retails for USD17k per person. I just did this route in January. You can have a read on my blog:

i have visited your blog, you have extensive travels in premium cabin so you must have a whole heap of miles if you didn't pay for the tickets in cash.
*
Same as you: "painstaking effort of collecting 1 mile at a time through credit cards"

just call to AM and Enrich to check ...
KUL - LHR - SCL - LHR - KUL

for AM need 175000 miles and for Enrich need 294000 miles ...

both also British Airways ...
*
Multi-carrier with AM. Enrich miles are ridiculous. BA Club World is quite poor. MH A380 J much better.

Thought about converting into AM but if points stucked inside cannot redeem also Susah. At least with Enrich... more or less sure to get to redeem LHR or Oz or NRT.
*
Yes, one thing good about Enrich is nearly guaranteed availability. That said, you can check availability first before converting into AM. But ya, AM redemption can be a pain.

hi, may i know how to use krisflyer miles to redeems other Star Alliance ticket ?
thanks
*
As herc said, you need to call up but you better have your dates and flight details on hand.

Problem is availability you see using say United or Life Miles DOES NOT translate into availability for SQ.

Flyertalk forum indicates this is due to SQ being stingy in releasing their premium cabins to other *A carriers thus they reciprocate.

Hello all sifus, just racked up 1million treatpoints after 11 months of using the M2C Gold Card. So, just need your opinion, which ffp to redeem, either Enrich, Krisflyer or Asia Miles? Thank you.
*
It all depends.

Where is your intended destination, class of travel, travel dates?

Depends again where he wants to go and on what dates. I've just booked a Oneworld Multipartner redemption on Asiamiles with 2 legs in first class (both on CX) and 5 legs in business class (BA, KA, CX and JL) and there was plenty of availability for the destinations the dates I needed.

I will say this though, booking through Asiamiles takes a lot more time. I spent 3 hours altogether on the phone to do the redemption....
*
Well done on the multi-carrier redemption. 3 hours on the phone in total sounds about right. Each call will last around 45mins to an hour. Haven't done a multi-carrier redemption for some time though but I think it still takes some time and patience.

Just as a reference, LHR, Business class, anywhere at the end of the year.
*
I would have said Enrich but I have no idea the miles required after 10 June devaluation kicks in.

KF saver award availability is challenging, especially for LHR. Ditto for AM unless you redeem close to a year out.

You can play around with dates to get an idea of availability and miles required.

Hi sifus, my 500K AM finally came in  thumbup.gif
I went to their website and it appears that I cannot choose NY or LA from KL? It is only available from HK. Does this mean that I have to book a separate ticket KL-HK? Or would it be easier to call them to make the bookings? I suppose there will be no difference in the number of points needed? Thanks in advance for your advise!

I had no problems with both KUL-HKG-JFK and KUL-HKG-LAX using this link.

Redeemed last Dec with 47k after the online discount, that was still acceptable....this is just too blatant a devaluation...

Their enrich program will die, like that....I am already thinking of diverting my flown miles into QF once I achieve the sectors to keep gold....my existing 170k miles which would have got me 3 j tickets to Oz now barely get 1....
*
Yup. The last time I used Enrich for Australia was years ago for my parents to fly to Melbourne. With the 50% discount it was a fantastic redemption, especially with domestic connections required. But that was YEARS ago. We have been getting nothing but bad news from MH. The 10 June Enrich devaluation was the last nail in the coffin.

For what they are requiring now for their A330 J product to MEL one can fly SQ First Class.

It's not even funny.

I won't go that far.. SQ J product is just wide. All other aspects, especially the foot cubby is bad if you ask me. MH's J product on the A380 trumps that of SQ's (non-bulkhead) J, IMHO.

My point was for around 160k miles flying to Melbourne, I will take SQ First Class anytime over MH's A330 J. It also goes to show just how out of touch/head in sand MH's management is.
