To be frank, I don't think there's much overlap between the universe of people who have the capability to get into McKinsey, BCG, etc, and the universe of people who frequent LYN.

What's the cultural difference in KL vs the bigger offices? Also how much responsibility do you actually get in the KL offices?

QUOTE(daidzz @ Dec 18 2015, 02:52 PM) You may be right - but I have actually communicated with quite a few people on LYN (albeit via PM) who have been interested in and some who have managed to been offered interviews with MBB firms. MBB here is far removed from the Accenture and Big 4 here though, having dealt with both side.Let's not forget that there are many other consulting companies out there like Accenture and PwC who hire quite heavily in Malaysia I just thought I'd offer an outlet for discussion, and if it ends up not taking off at all I'll close the thread after a while, but thank you for your input - duly noted |

In case you didn't know.........Accenture has AccentureStrategy launched about 2 years ago. They are eating into a lot of MBB deals. This is also why McK is building up its Operations practice....can't compete with Accenture Strategy and Deloitte and others who are strong in transformations and execution. Though MBB still dominate corporate strategy.
Not forgetting that Deloitte bought Monitor, while PwC bought Booz. The strategy space is getting a bit crowded. |

Yes these acquisitions have been interesting - from my knowledge, however, Accenture for the most part does not usually directly compete with MBB for strategy projects but rather for implementation/operations/technology engagements. Not forgetting that Deloitte bought Monitor, while PwC bought Booz. The strategy space is getting a bit crowded. |

QUOTE(rockstarlive @ Dec 18 2015, 03:47 PM) What's the cultural difference in KL vs the bigger offices? Also how much responsibility do you actually get in the KL offices? From what I gather, it seems that smaller offices have a culture where the consultants are closer and tend to know one another, rather than feeling like an enormous organisation. I'm sure the level of responsibility is the same, however the types of projects you work on will certainly be different - e.g big financial institutions in NY, tech companies in Silicon Valley, O&G Companies in Texas, - i think the offices are more likely to have geographically-relevant work. |

QUOTE(daidzz @ Dec 21 2015, 06:23 PM) If your question is if they pay in actual USD - then no - they pay in RM, though their salaries are much higher than standard malaysian companies, which is possibly why some people might have been under that impression. Heard BCG fresh grads getting 8 - 10k per month. Think McK and Booz were similar. Any truth to this? |

QUOTE(Babizz @ Dec 22 2015, 09:00 AM) nope..the figure isnt around thr... but fr a gd kid out of school targeting acn mc is a good place to start.. QUOTE(daidzz @ Dec 22 2015, 11:14 AM) The figure is actually a little higher (for MBB at least), believe it or not. Not sure about Booz though (now Strategy&) McKinsey - 5,000 basic for fresh grad provided entry via their summer internshipBoston and Bain - 5,000 to 6,000 Those earning between 8-10k would be senior associate consultant. On what sense that fresh grad can be on that pay grade? I'm abit curious. (I'm not giving baseless statements here. To protect the person, I censored most of the details) ![]() However, there are some exception for Doctorates or Master Grad. |
