Hey Sifus here

I'm planning to purchase the Mercedes A250 in 2016, planning to buy second hand or recon for this car as I feel buying a new car is not really worth it.

Would just like to check a few things with you, how much is the service for this car? and is it 15,000 km per service?

Anyone who owns this car don't mind sharing your experience with me.

Thanks a bunch!

I am also looking seriously at E250 coupe. Same engine as yours,M271. So far what I've researched, the engine is well built and reliable. However there are timing chain issues. I feel it may start from the tensioner which appears to be problematic around 120-140kkm. Parts are very expensive. Each service is also expensive, roughly $800 - $1000, for normal service.

Have you found any Merc workshops?

Hey there

Not yet, as I'm still particularly new at this, no one in my family owns a Mercs therefore I'm not sure where to ask around as well. Guess this will be a good place for information.

If I get the A250 recon I do not have to go to any Mercs service centre right? Just have to go to an independent workshop?

What you have pictured is not the A250. The A250 is plain and boring. What you think you want based on the picture that you have put up is the AMG GLA45. That is a totally different beast from the A250. The price difference is also heaven and earth in difference.

Hey there

That is an A250, just that guy adding a lot of customisation into it. You can take a look at his FB page below

https://www.facebook.com/A250my/?flyingspaghettimonster=ts&fref=ts

He showed what parts he installed and where to get them to make his car look like that, very interesting, should check it out.

So now it is all looks an no go.. practically turned it into an 'Ah Beng' car. I expected no less than a GLA45 if one were to have that rear spoiler. That's like people modding the Lancer/Inspira with the EVO bodykit. The GLA45 is a true monster. This one is just a wannabe...

haha bro, everyone has different preferences for car, for me taking the a250 and adding a few mods could be fun. but anyway this page was to discuss about the a250 maintenance.

so if i buy the recon a250, i just have to go the an independent mercedes workshop is fine? and normally whats the cost of service and all?

Why do you need to go to proper Merc service center when you have no warranty with them? There are few continental independant service centres you can go to that has the equipment to service and check for issues on modern day cars. That being said, their numbers are rather limited since not every tom, dick and harry service center has the equipment to do so.

Bro, thats an A45 AMG in the picture, or could be an A250 with AMG bodykit. GLA45 looks vastly different from the A45 (eg, higher ride height and different front bumper) if you haven't noticed already.

GLA45 is derived from the A45 AMG, you're in turn classifying your "true monster" car as an Ah-Beng car. I couldn't even classify what kind of car the GLA45 is, it couldn't function well as a proper hot hatch, nor a crossover, its like its having an identity crisis. The A45 is a proper hot hatch.

thanks for the info bro. Judging from your previous posts i believe you have a good experience with car. For purchasing recon cars, I do not have any contact that would be able to recommend me.

Normally what are the steps or procedures when purchasing a recon car, all I did was research online on carlist, oto, all those website. But there are so many choices not sure which to choose from.

I'm classifying an A250 with bodykit as an Ah Beng car, not the true monster A45. Please do read from Post 1 and visit the link and read before replying. Do visit the link to find out the origins of the car in question. In fact that car was most likely a A250 AMG Sport based on the front bumper before the bodykit modification.

I think he was referring to the fact that you mentioned GLA45 instead of A45 in your post, see below for your quote in your post...

GLA45 is the Sports sedan derived from the A45. LarryPizzaGuy meant that it is either a A45 or modded A250 in the picture, not a GLA45 as you posted.

What I said is that to have that spoiler, I expect it to be no less than an GLA45 akin to a real EVO sporting an EVO spoiler. I didn't say that pic was a GLA45. I said that only a real GLA45 should be sporting that spoiler. I'm sure I made that pretty clear and nothing was wrong with the grammar.
