So now it is all looks an no go.. practically turned it into an 'Ah Beng' car. I expected no less than a GLA45 if one were to have that rear spoiler. That's like people modding the Lancer/Inspira with the EVO bodykit. The GLA45 is a true monster. This one is just a wannabe...

Some of us just prefer the original looks instead of a copied one, no matter how good it looks.

people on the side of things here just want to mind our own business with our stock car. yet for some reason those spoilered/bodykit folks somehow still tend to pester over sweat.gif

I drove GT86 before i add A into the family.. still keeping them and im happy with both to be honest.. but stock GT86 has no power at all.. no way it can compete w something bigger than the A250 sport.. we have to turbocharge it, change the suspension etc etc so it can be as good as the A250, if not better.. nothing to be very proud of an 86 or an A until one need to insult how ones car look like.. like he say, everyone has their own pref in their book.. so this is his and mine.. its not very nice to say ppls car is UGLY after they have put so much effort on it.. if one is a car lover, regardless what car ppl driving, they will respect it.. even if its saga-subaru wanna be or kancil-suzuki swift wanna be.. one can tell or share their opinions, but it can be done in a proper mannered way, i believe..
*
i just baffle at how a huge majority of people misses the entire point of the car.

and it is interesting how the original 86 being so hyped up (i guess can owe it to initial d rofl) despite being an even worse/even more under powered car lol.

Hahaha this is exactly like the BMW forums. I didn't know MB community are similarly so heh.

So far what I have learnt from them is, well example:

a Non-M F30 3 series with the M-Sport bodykit+M-Performance aero kit = Acceptable cause it's as intended. Sometimes it's borderline RICER when there are too much aftermarket stuffs.

This is exactly like the AMG sports package for their regular car, it is just the manufacturer trying to milk some money from their popular racing/performance division. And why not? Customers likes them anyway so they are just doing a very good marketing. The AMG badges/kits does look sweet on a regular MB car! Do they deserve the AMG or M tagline? Certainly so, as the parts are indeed designed by the AMG or M. Just not the car itself. lol

a Non-M F30 3 series with the M3 Bodykit = Immediately categorised as Poser (Does this count as ah beng?) Similar as above? Converting a non AMG car into an AMG?

a Non-M F30, no matter with what exterior mod, a M/M3/M4 badge is at the trunk lid = OMGLULZ POSER. Well, I guess there are just people like to slap whatever badges they could find on their car.

Personally, anything OEM that is INTENDED for a particular car is fine. But as soon as you slap something on it that isn't meant to, that's too much for me and probably a lot of other car lovers out there. But then again theirs car, so nothing to do with me. Just felt pitiful for the car itself.

Haha. I think many people don't realize how the GT86 is actually manufactured and designed inside out by Subaru. Perhaps @sleepwalker can enlighten me again, is there anything actually Toyota about the GT86 aside from the badge?

And given Subaru's technical expertise, if Toyota wanted something that matches the A250 - it really wouldn't have been a problem at all.
*
i thought the chassis/suspensions etc all by Toyota instead, while subaru focuses on the power/drivetrain
even on engine, toyota is in charge of the DI/port injection combination, that is proprietary and it is seemingly not allowed to be used on subaru's own engine lineup (evidently there's only the older port injection engines, or straight up purely direct injection)

sleepwalker do correct me if i'm wrong

but yes, if they really wanted something that can beat the A250 technically and performance wise, it is definitely not an issue.
and considering toyota, luxury wise, with the lexus behind them, i doubt it would be an issue either.

Lol looks like you guys didn't get my point either - let's be realistic: by today's 'fun' standards, 205Nm just doesn't cut it for fun tossable cars anymore

When you say '(turbocharging) will.change the entire dynamics of the car', are you imagining Wataru's 290HP AE86 butt-kick turbo lag? Mass produced turbos these days are cheaper to manufacture than before and can be tuned to give minimal lag thus providing that instantaneous response NA drivers shout about.

Exactly why I say, objectively, the designers went the wrong way with this 'underpowered' NA by not embracing turbo technology into the GT86

Good for you to be fortunate enough to experience turbo. smile.gif

Unfortunately though, you'll never understand the 86. sad.gif

To be perfectly clear I've yet to personally own the 86 or any turbo car, but the 2 I am owning (proton Iswara 3 speed auto and Inspira 1.8 manual) are severely underpowered in Sepang and despite that I'm still having loads of fun with them.

Neither cars I've bothered much about power upgrades, only suspensions and tires.
And having tailed 86's before both in Sepang and road, cornering with them, I can somewhat feel that the driver is having a ton of fun with his car, similarly as to how I am having my share of fun. smile.gif

Can, the new Focus RS seems to do both. And it looks phenomenal as well.

You only need to fork out close to 300k or more for it when it finally arrives in Malaysia.
*
considering the evo x was officially well over 300k, unless ford is aggressive on the pricing, it may be in the 400k region sad.gif
then again, they had been rather generous on the focus side offering specs/features that only cars well in the 300-500k region offered.

so who knows?

It's definitely got to be priced significantly cheaper than the A45 or no one but Ford loyalists would buy it - even they would think twice lol

personally, focus RS manual, A45 tarak.

no brainer.

Ok if ure talking in terms of the manual-must-have crowd, then the natural choice would be the civic type R for many reasons

i want my future car AWD too, and with that insane torque vectoring technology ford is carrying, it could further compensate over my lack of driving capabilities tongue.gif

Probably not la.

The Golf R, WRX STI all retails for just under 300k. If they are going to sell the Focus RS over 300k, then they are going into A45, 1M, S3 territory. '

QUOTE(dares @ Dec 20 2015, 09:46 PM)
IF SDAC brings it in, and thats a big IF, they have to be out of their mind to price it more expensive than the Golf R.
*
hmm true also...

and ya the big if part, who still wants a manual car these day and age when DCT practically made them obsolete lol

I've seen so many Golf GTI, Golf R and Polo GTI on the road, but I've only ever saw one Focus ST and one Fiesta ST. Heck, I've encountered more 2015 WRX than that (including a particularly memorable one with a car plate W473R  ohmy.gif  biggrin.gif  ).

It would be a damn miracle if SDAC even consider bringing in the RS.
*
well, if the time ever comes when i can afford one, even if SDAC dont bring in theres always AP or recond or whatever la.

yes badge is a problem, however for my case at least, it never stopped me from owning yet another proton (despite what i may have said/decided in the past prior to owning the car) tongue.gif

none of u guys understand why gt86 is a failed opportunity.

gt86 is targeted at sports car enthusiasts. now what is the number 1 top hobby of sports car enthusiasts??, why , modding their cars of course !

think how much more tuning potential the gt86 would have if it was turbocharged ?
