Adele,

U should be getting excited ma right?
i mean, CHEAPER equities to buy more wor. drool.gif

like shopping on SALE SALE SALE!
since need/holding long (or should i say 'savings allocater'), i'd prefer things to be on sale since i want/need to buy anyway

sorry - "grocery shopping" habits die hard. i'm the fler infront of the queue with fully loaded milk-powder 12 months' worth during a worthwhile sale laugh.gif

Very exciting times....

My CIMB China is down by 6% and RHB China India is down by 6.2%.

I am not sure how long my heart can take this... biggrin.gif
*
simple - don't use heart, use stomach + mind (greed +probabilities) laugh.gif

er.. seriously
if i use heart, may get heart attack liao if all markets plunge another 20%
by that time, my China ETF will be negative and so will my Titans & GEMS sweat.gif
must be able to hold though for >=5 years though (just in case)

QUOTE(j.passing.by @ Jan 15 2016, 06:06 PM)
I'm expecting all markets to dip further... some people (which could be millions of retali investors in China and Hong Kong and Taiwan and Singapore... and...) will be taking money out of the stock market for CNY to spend and pay back debts, some just to lessen their holdings since going for long CNY holidays and will not be monitoring the market on daily basis.
*
also good - hits my "worthwhile" cost, i collect more laugh.gif

BTW, STI itself has fallen like chunks vs KLCI (if exclude forex to/fro USD)
we're talking about double digits % STI vs KLCI single digit comparison here shocking.gif
thus... i smell something nice coming if it keeps falling laugh.gif

QUOTE(river.sand @ Jan 16 2016, 09:53 PM)
hmm... don't know whet the PE of 6.2 is forward PE or trailing PE. I remember another guy mentioned that earnings are dropping. Even if economy improves, aunty/uncle investors may be reluctant to enter, after getting burned.

And don't trust the promise of no further RMB devaluation. Chairman of PBoC made similar promise last year.

Regarding India, reform has stalled. But if Modi can eventually push through reform, things will be better.

P/E 6.x India fund?

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=IFN 6.16 ttm or trailing PE
India Fund, Inc. is a close ended equity mutual fund launched and managed by Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Limited.

QUOTE(Vanguard 2015 @ Jan 18 2016, 10:23 AM)
I think there is one acid test for any fund managers giving talks or seminars at FSM or at any other functions. We should ask him/her,

"Excuse me Sir/Madam, you said Manulife India or Affin Japan Growth or CIMB Greater China or RHB Smart Treasure or [depending on which fund house he is from] will perform this year because the economy data shows bla, bla, bla.. May I know if you have invested in this fund yourself? If yes, how many percent of your savings did you invest in it?"

If the expert fund manager answers, "Err, actually I have not invested in this fund which I am promoting and in which I am the fund manager..."

THEN WE SHOULD RUN FOR THE HILLS.
*
That SHOULD be the 1st Q heheh
and not how many % of savings but
a. how much % of your net worth is held in the fund now
b. how much more / less % U will add/lower by 31st Dec 2016

pity the fler that doesn't "eat their own dog food" but "marketing talk" only tongue.gif

Yah, yah, your questions sound better and more specific.  rclxms.gif

But being typical polite Malaysian society, we will not ask this type of questions to the fund managers.

For eg. we will rave and rant in this forum about our paper loss from investing in FSM. But how many of us have actually gone to the FSM office to bang table to show our anger?  laugh.gif
*
er.. coz we aint that dumb to blame FSM?

wrong wrong thinking but its in the head of most of the investors

rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Market drop 20% = 20% discount for the fund you bought.

buy buy buy Now MEGA sale !!!!

drool.gif  drool.gif  drool.gif
*
eh.. not yet MEGA sale la
IF drop another 40% how? heheh ULTRA MEGA SALE?
ok lar if that's your definition for lelong (ultra mega sale)
and when 80% down, SUPER ULTRA MEGA SALE

just poking fun(d) to lighten up fear/greed ya
value or sale depends on one's timeline & perspective notworthy.gif

all waiting for oil companies & oil borrowings to implode, then lelong buys tongue.gif

Mr Buffet is buying too - refiner Phillips 66, a spinoff by ConocoPhillips (COP.N), which Berkshire also owned. Two years later, Berkshire shed its remaining Conoco stake, as well as a large investment in Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N).

Wong seafood, are you in shopping spree yet or still waiting for further markdown sales?
*
still chugging along with Value Averaging (just done last Mon/Tue for GlobalTits & GEMs.

Bulk of dry ammo for this year - waiting for better deals.
note - dry ammo for chunking in per transaction (6 transactions) is about 5 times of VA's amount allocated per period,
thus i demand much much more discounts, which may not be triggered tongue.gif
i chicken ma

From my own cooking / personal targets, the "nearest" to trigger are:
1. If STI 2350+/-: Buy STI ETF
2. If EWZ $13.50+/- (ETF on Brazil or more GEMS) OR If RSX $9.20+/- (ETF on Russia or more GEMS)
3. If BRENT $23+/-: Buy more CVX (already bought 1x last year when CVX fell to USD31 or 30) or other fundamentally strong oil supply chain Co.
4. If CIMBA40 $1.37+/-: Buy more CIMBA40 (already VA bit by bit)
5. If CIMBC50 $0.82+/-: Buy more CIMBC50 (already VA bit by bit)

Just sharing my own triggers ya, not a recommendation. notworthy.gif
Your mileage may vary due to different expectations/wants/asset allocation/methodology and all other liability-excluding clauses.
