I'm afraid they are all mediocre uni to say the least.

3rd tier..

Sorry, I didn't bother reading all the 55 pages of this thread so please excuse me if I am repeating what someone else has already said.

I think MBA is one of those degrees where the uni you are graduating from plays a huge part. Graduate from some local u/college or some 2nd tier foreign uni would be pointless lor. Waste of money only.

It's A LOT of money but I would of recommend the unis offering MBAs as listed in the Financial Times.  All the other 'crappy'colleges, forget it. No point. Your salary won't be much higher pun.

1) a lot of ppl studies mba to socialize and network.... studying in a prestiges school that is expensive allows you to interact with ppl that are in high standings irregardless of the quality of the course

2) ppl knows especially those that already have their mba that if u r from a unknown school, ur mba dont worth much cause every tom d*** and harry can have it

so next is uni of manchester .. but d last time i check, it is also in msia.. offered by sunway... not too bad if u r in msia

sg has harvard, and other top schools also

I would pick INSEAD. Might not be the right impression but at least INSEAD Singapore is acknowledged worldwide (that said, many people insist that INSEAD Singapore and France are not the same...). Uni of Chicago Booth Singapore campus isn't listed in the rankings.

Might be expensive but ROI might be higher;)

P/S: Heard the NUS MBA programme is not bad as well
*
all foreign campus are not listed because they share the status of the mother campus.. u dont see cambridge splitting their campuses right?

unless u have a university system like university of cali, then it is a diff thing..

insead is too exp for me... i am near fresh... can only afford adelaide... then mba i would get a 4 subject exemption.. hehe

nus have a partnership with harvard.... and best of all... if you are working in sg, you can get your employer to pay for you..

I doubt you can get any scholarships for MBA, if there's any it is based on merit and not previous results/entrance

Parents pay for MBA? this is the dumbest thing ever... if you can't afford MBA just dont study... it shows that you are not ready yet

Does it show in our certification..anyone here during an interview they asked about the actual grade of each of your exams?
*
wont show in the cert... will show in the results slip... but on the cert no diff

Hi Guys,

Do anybody got info about MBA courses offer in Penang?  I know we got USM, UUM and SEGI (Sunderland).  Any others options?
Anybody taking SEGI MBA from U.Sunderland UK?  How is it?  I am quite reluctant to go for local U as not too sure about the market value in private sector.

Please share your experience and advice.

I am keen to enroll for next intake, properly Sept.

Many Thanks.

Regards
Steven

Hello. After spending years overseas, I'm returning to Malaysia and am considering getting an MBA.

I'm 28 years and hold a PhD(Engineering).

I have a few doubts:
a. For MBA that requires at least two years of working experience (the good ones), am I appear too young?
b. Which MBA is suitable for me, as someone with technical background?
c. Anyone taking an MBA after PhD?

tinkerbel, why don't you join me for dinner tongue.gif I'm available, not MBA tongue.gif

MBA: Married But Available
*
28 years is just fine... mbs mba for errr... engineers

good schools dont just need 2 yearsof working.. but 2 years in a management position

@alaskanbunny,
The MBS program is really just any other MBA; just that Sunway has positioned it as an MBA for Engineering Grads biggrin.gif

*
well.... i believe unlike other mba that is catered for all... mbs concentrates more on students needs... those from businesss side will study indepth on certain things... and those with technical background will have basic post grad for business and other technical post grad subjects

i wonder why i cant get credit exemption for mbs even when i have another masters.... and it is from a reputable university too.. is mbs only interested in making $$$?

Have anyone here consider to take MBA in UPM(Universiti Putra Malaysia)?
My brother currently doing his MBA in UPM.It is quite good..,Prepare food and all that!^^
UM definitely need working experience before you can study MBA and if you are from Engineering course,it is more harder to apply for UM `s MBA!
No offence~~~Nice days ~~

lousy degree factory.. even fresh grad can enter

so the best choice will be
University of Strathclyde?

Accredited :
AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, based in the USA
EQUIS - the quality assurance scheme run by the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd) and based in Brussels
AMBA - the Association of MBAs, based in the UK

they include overseas seminars, classes, accomodation.. etc etc

QUOTE(entryman @ Oct 27 2010, 04:52 AM)
Admin, as to your question, Strathclyde definitely wins over Notts in terms of ranking and prestige.

I guess you'll have to consider the cost, and class profile, and faculty. That should be it.

For Nottinghan, the cost is 55k.

ringgit?

Do you have other links that point to the 18k SGD? This is strange..how come there's such a huge difference between figures. It doesn't really make sense though, being so cheap.

Hei. Can i apply MBA after my degree? Cause i see Monash MBA require u to have a degree and at least 5years of working experience.

I tot u can str8 away take mba after finishing ur degree? confuse@@
*
5 years is already generous... some requires 3 years of management experience...

u can try UPM... they allow fresh grads... n they dare claim they are one of the best in asia

QUOTE(Hikari0307 @ Nov 7 2010, 03:32 PM)
Most MBA programmes require you to at least have 2 years of relevant work experience and sit for GMAT and many that enter the good ones have an average of 5 years experience in Management.

MBA programmes that does not require work experience are not worth the time and money.
If your a fresh graduate and wants to continue studying first then go for a Masters in Management,Masters in Finance etc. etc. instead of an MBA that doesn't require work experience.

i have heard people say that the dean in upm will only consider freshgrad with cgpa above 3.75 without working experience eventhough the requirement is actually above 2.75.
izit true?
*
considering 1/2 of the local grads come out with 3.75 above... it doesnt make much of a diff... its not a msc, its an mba... academic results dont matter
